My husband and I are nearing the end of a sabbatical year spent in Michelle's apartment, and it has been excellent. The apartment is on a quiet street, the top floor of a brownstone, so both the front and the back of the apartment are lined with windows. The two bedrooms are in the back of the building, away from the street, and I am using one as my writing space. That has worked really well, both because the building is quiet and because I really appreciate the late morning/afternoon sun that streams in the windows. The location is another huge advantage. Harlem is a vibrant, dynamic neighborhood, with lots of places to find great food. Just one mile N of Central Park means access to the best running trails in the city. The subways to the rest of the city are within 5 blocks. And Michelle is an excellent host, genuinely helpful for people who are getting to know the city, and extremely welcoming. This is an excellent apartment. Excellent Cathy Z 3/10/2017 10:34:00 AM
We are Michelle's current tenants in this apartment, and will be sad to leave at the end of June. The apartment is very comfortable, bright, warm in winter, and air conditioned in summer. Michelle is a terrific landlord; she is very accommodating and wants to be sure her tenants are happy. Harlem is an interesting and exciting community and we feel very safe here. Major subway and bus lines nearby make it is easy to get around town. We highly recommend this place. Excellent Amy 2/8/2016 8:21:00 AM
My son and I stayed for 10 months at 118 West 130th Street and felt very lucky. We loved the "hood" and were allowed to foster cats from the ASPCA in our apartment. The place is sun drenched and spacious and close to all amenities including the 2 and 3 subway lines. The A,B,C, and D are also not far and were our lifeline to school and work everyday. We moved house back in the UK 3 months before we came to NYC and have lived longer in Harlem now than in our London home. We cannot imagine not being here anymore and are looking forward to coming back on day. Excellent Mirjam Hauck 7/16/2015 12:23:00 PM
I rented the top floor apartment from Michelle for 2013-2014. It's fantastic -- spacious, quiet, very clean, in a great location. It is very nicely furnished and comfortable. Michelle is an excellent landlord - conscientious and responsive. Everything is nearby: the 2/3 subway (A/C, B/D is also an easy walk away; the 4/5/6 a little further), a very good supermarket, good restaurants, bars, good jazz, etc. Excellent Don 4/4/2014 11:13:00 AM
I loved living in this apartment! It is clean, well-kept, very spacious, private, and close to everything. There are only two floors with one apartment each, so it is very quiet, safe, and private. I lived here while on fellowship for 10 months in New York City and it was a dream. The apartment is furnished and equipped with everything you could ever want or need (i.e. plates, appliances, pillows, blankets etc.) All you need to bring are your sheets and towels--literally! Michelle is fantastic and she makes you feel like you are at home. She is kind, helpful, discreet and always available when you need her. I can't say enough good things about this unit. My only regret is that I can't stay here another 10 months. If you want to live in a beautiful brownstone, enjoy being in one of the most exciting neighborhoods in NYC, and close to everything, this is your place. Excellent NRM 2/3/2013 11:53:00 AM
