1-Bedroom: Paris 5th, Latin Quarter

A beautifully restored 1-bedroom, 1-bath apartment in a French Haussmann building, with a full kitchen near the historic Latin Quarter of Paris. Warm and colorful interior. 4th floor (no elevator), very sunny and quiet even with windows open. Windows face South and open on courtyard. Short walking distance to shops, restaurants, parks, and public transportation. Quiet neighbors. Super lives in the building. Two blocks from Jardin des Plantes (botanical garden), 10 minutes walk to river boardwalk, to Rue Mouffetard, and to Butte aux Cailles.

I spent a wonderful six weeks in this apartment! I recommend it highly as a great place to live like a Paris local! Stairs must be considered, but I managed, even when tired from a day of walking all over Paris! Just be ready for the four flights up to 5th floor without elevator! (I am an out-of-shape 70-yr old woman, and I managed!) Apartment is comfortable, well-stocked, and full of light from the magnificent windows that look out onto a cobblestone inner courtyard so you don't get loud street noise. Big, comfortable bed and lots of storage area with extra linens available if you stay long and want to change linens yourself. Laundromat nearby. Small, wheeled cart there to use for grocery shopping or taking things to laundry. Serviceable kitchen and lots of wonderful books on Paris and even novels! Host is more than gracious and was immediately responsive to small things that will happen when you stay anywhere for 6 weeks! (Like bulbs burning out and smoke alarm batteries dying) Host is distant, but he has local people there to attend to any issues you might have. Neighbors in building are friendly and the neighborhood is delightful. Wifi was strong and allowed streaming easily. Fridge is big for a Paris apartment and the apartment itself was HUGE compared to many Paris 1-bdrm apartments. I recommend this home without reservation! Have fun and live the Paris dream from here. Easy to get to Metro lines and buses from front door of apartment. Cafes, patisseries, and grocery stores within stone's throw. I would stay again without second thought!
