Beautiful, spacious (1000sqft), elegant 1910 Left Bank apartment, furnished with antiques. Perfect for an academic couple

On the left bank in the area of Ecole Militaire, UNESCO and Invalides

It is at the edge of the 7th and 15th Arr very close to
Place de Breteuil---it is 2 minutes from metro Segur. We really like the area
which is very "parisian" , convenient to much of Paris but not "touristy ".
Friends who have lived in the apartment say that, like us, they are
delighted with the area. The apartment is on the US 2nd floor ( french
1st floor ) of a grand Art Noveau building ( 1910 ) with an elevator and
a concierge.
It is about 1000 sq feet in size with a living room, dining room,
bedroom and study. It has a modern ( US type) kitchen and bathroom but the
other rooms have their original 1910 flavour and elegance-- eg 4 marble
fireplaces and intricate plaster moldings , long windows and wood floors.
Much of the furniture is antique (except the new beds !). The main bedroom
has a pair of twin beds which we put side by side for a queen size bed,
or could be moved apart. The study has a couch that converts to a bed,
a large desk and the television. It also has a mac laptop and internet connection.
The living and dining rooms face an attractive, small street
with a nice view of the opposite apartment building ( like ours )
and the other rooms face a small courtyard.
The apartment is fully equiped with all the usual things plus
dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. It also has a CD-stereo .The
modern kitchen has a small eating area and a good size fridge, radiant heat
cook top and an eye level oven.
The modern bathroom has a double sink, a bathtub with a shower. There is also
a second room with a good size sink.

There are many little shops for food near by and a wonderful street
market on Avenue de Saxe ( 3 minutes walk away ) on Thursday and Saturday
mornings. There are also a number of really good small restaurants very close
by ( including on the corner of the street )
We love the location----and all our guests say this too. it is perfectly Parisian, close
to the most elegant parts of Paris, a delight to walk around , quiet but minutes
from the metro and bus to take you to the busy areas.

We are an academic couple and we live in the apartment ourselves in the summers.
We are delighted to have similar couples enjoy our beautiful apartment when we ourselves are in Los Angeles.

About Me
We are professors at USC. We live in Los Angeles in a lovely large house during the academic year and we live in our elegant Paris apartment in the summers. Both homes are available to careful, appreciative tenants when we are not living there ourselves.

We (an American academic couple on sabbatical) rented this lovely flat for 6 months, January-June, 2016, and we would happily return in a heartbeat. Our third Paris sabbatical rental, this apartment is our favorite, with its sunny, spacious, elegantly furnished front rooms, its well-set up cooking kitchen, and a quiet bedroom and a courtyard overlooking the interior courtyard.

Located on a very quiet and picturesque residential street—we saw fashion magazines do photo shoots right there—the apartment is situated just outside the tourist zone, in a neighborhood inhabited by Parisiens living their regular lives. (One point in this regard is that a very light sleeper sometimes stays in the apartment below, and he is a strong defender of Paris apartment noise etiquette; as is true of many Parisian apartment buildings, noise carries easily.) The delightful concierge is helpful and welcoming.

The apartment is thoughtfully set up and cared for, and if we needed help from our English-speaking landlords they were always responsive, attentive and easy to work with. Their Paris-based caretakers were also terrific.

The apartment is near Les Invalides, close to two metro lines (#6 and #10), and walking distance from two good boulangers and the market street, rue Lecourbe. Best of all, it is just steps away from the fabulous twice-weekly marché Saxe-Breuteil, which food writer Patricia Wells calls one of Paris’s largest and best open air markets. (Wells’ “Paris Food Lover’s Guide” app includes a great write-up on this market’s highlights.)

Last but not least, both street corners have views of the Eiffel tower. What a treat to walk back and see its glittering profile welcoming us home. A magical apartment in a magical city.

We stayed for a month in this Paris apartment. It is as described, a very large apartment with a large living room, dining room and nice size kitchen. and a large office with a fold out bed. Beautifully appointed, it feels more like a home than an apartment. There are two Metro lines very close to the apartment, and another a few blocks walk, which makes it very convenient to get anywhere in Paris and beyond. It is a nice quiet neighborhood and has a wonderful large market a block or so away that is there twice a week on Thursday and Saturday. The vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese and fish are in abundance as are cooked selections. We were very pleased with our stay there and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in a real neighborhood in Paris that is not jammed with tourists.
