Artistic Green & Healthy 1 Bedroom in Vibrant Bastille Area; Paris Registration #7511101057478

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)
Our pied-de-terre is an inviting home away from home. The library is well supplied with a wide array of guide books, engaging novels set in Paris, and books on the history of Paris and France. (Registered guests are welcome to review the book inventory prior to their trip enabling them to save space in their luggage by leaving books behind.) Lounging in the arm chair and ottoman is the perfect way to recuperate after a long day on your feet in Paris. The bedroom is on the quieter courtyard side of the building where it's common to awake to the soft sounds of birds singing. Two of the best boulangeries (bakeries) in Paris are just a block or two away. The open air market at the end of the street is in the Top Ten in Paris. Vibrant nightlife is just a block away on rue Roquette and other nearby streets. Many top spots in Paris are just minutes away by foot. Place des Vosges, home to French kings and Victor Hugo, is 8 minutes away, Centre Georges Pompidou is 15, and Notre Dame Cathedral is just 20.

Traveling light and needing to do laundry? A laundromat is just down the street. Looking for a unique French taste? The absinthe bar, La Feé Verte, is the next block over and has a suite of their own absinthes. Intrigued by the past? Père Lachaise is one of the most famous cemeteries in the world and has the graves of a wide variety of famous people including: Honoré de Balzac, Sarah Bernhardt, Frédéric Chopin, Yves Montand, Jim Morrison, and Marcel Proust. Enjoy people watching? The Place Bastille is vibrant and full of surprises, from marching strikers (often friendly) to the thousands of rollerbladers streaming through on various Friday nights. The summer solstice offers music and live performance all over Paris, but it's especially lively throughout the Bastille where the whole neighborhood becomes a festival.

Though perfect for two people, a short term third guest would make it cozy. Not really recommended for four unless it's short term.

About Me
Renting our apartments (Paris & Berkeley) has truly been an enriching experience, especially introducing people to the richness of the city of Paris, the French culture and the San Francisco Bay Area. We fell in love with the Bastille area. The apartment there is also very close to the Marais. Business and family bring us to Europe on a regular basis so having a home to stay in was very important to us. We're delighted to share it with friends, both old and new. As a green and healthy building materials consultant and researcher, it was very important for us to follow healthy materials guidelines when renovating both apartments. The Berkeley in-law is nearly net-zero energy, has an ultra low carbon footprint and very healthy materials. Both places are safe havens for anyone with allergies!

I recommend this apartment and this renter most highly! I rented this lovely little apartment for my daughter, my mother, and me for a week in May, and it was wonderful. Jan was incredibly amiable, helpful, and easy to work with via telephone and email in advance and afterwards. The terms and process for getting keys, etc. were fair and easy to follow. Jan sent a good deal of helpful information about the apartment, the neighborhood, places to see/eat/visit, and more. She even had local contacts for us should we encounter an emergency during our stay. The apartment was in a convenient location, easy access to the Metro, walking distance to several sites including Place des Vosges, a wonderful open air market at the top of the street every Sunday and Thursday, etc. There are markets and shops convenient to the apartment, including a Cat Cafe a few blocks up the street. The apartment itself is just as charming as advertised. It's small, yes, but we were perfectly comfortable sharing the double bed and my (college-aged) daughter on the sofa, the bathroom was compact but not cramped, and the living area is well-arranged. The apartment is outfitted with essentials and thoughtful conveniences (e.g. umbrellas, canvas shopping bags, a french coffee press, etc.), prettily decorated with original artwork, and nicely stocked with guidebooks, novels, and more. This was a wonderful place to stay, and I hope I get to experience it again one day. Excellent KWarren 7/5/2017 9:43:00 AM
