Lakefront Retreat: Pure Michigan, Proximity to Ann Arbor

Charming lakefront house in precious cultural mecca Pinckney, Michigan. Offers two bedrooms, one bath with jacuzzi tub, cute kitchen with eat in table and corian counters, hardwood floors, new dishwasher and oak cabinets, and open great room with dining table, games, castiron fireplace insert for safety warmth and charm. Fronting the lake is a row of windows with view of lake and sunset that makes each day feel like a holiday. Living room features two comfy and well designed foldout couches for company. For rent as temporary writers retreat or sabbatical year residence to academic colleagues. Cordely Lake, closely monitored by local residents and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, has recently been deemed the second cleanest lake in the state. It is a non wake lake, meaning no gas motor craft, and not connected to any other lakes. Limpid waters, quiet neighbors, and all only 17 miles from the libraries, cafes and concerts of downtown Ann Arbor, or a couple of miles to the bistros, dinner theaters, and barbeque joints of charming Dexter, Chelsea, and Pinckney, MI. A humble treasure with abundant birdlife, friendly neighbors (many are retired educators) and a constant breeze off the water. Rental includes Paddleboard, Canoe, Adirondack chairs, Rustic outdoor dining table, Weber Grill, Petanque (or boules) set, and Dock. Also charming in the winter, when the lake freezes solid and offers lake walks on the snow cover, ice hockey, and ice fishing. Nearby Metroparks, Pinckney Recreational Area and University of Michigan owned forest Stinchfield Woods offers groomed walking, trail biking and X country skiing trails. Looking for Pure Michigan not far from cosmopolitan A2? This is your place.

About Me
My husband and I both teach at University of Michigan. We have a historic home located near the arboretum in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We also own a two bed, two bath condo right behind Navy Pier in Chicago, and a small cottage on a peaceful, non-wake lake in Pinckney Michigan which makes a perfect writer's retreat. Busy city, quiet country, or the charms of A2, we would be happy to lend depth and breadth to your stay in the midwest.

This apartment was perfect for a Newberry long-term fellow. It's located right in the lively and safe neighborhood of Streeterville. The furnished apartment is in a very good condition, with everything necessary for a long or short stay. I particularly appreciated its sizable functional kitchen, abundant bath towels and bed linens, and dinnerware. It was truly a home away from home. There are several very good supermarkets nearby (the Whole Foods is right across the street from the rear exit of the building!). It's within a perfect walking distance to the Newberry Library (25 minutes) and is near the red line (less than 5 minutes) and other metros stations (within 15-minute walking distance). There are also a wide selections of restaurants nearby. We would definitely stay here if we ever return to Chicago. It's an awesome place. Excellent Researcher 6/30/2019 11:00:00 AM
This apartment has been perfect for a fellowship year in Chicago. It is conveniently located for walking to many universities and museums, restaurants, concert halls and cinemas (+ 5 quality Supermarkets, including Eataly). Public transport is quick and convenient to Hyde Park and Lincoln Park (direct CTA bus and red line). Other attractions, such as public parks, Navy Pier, and the lake walk/run/bike path are only a couple of blocks away, and in chilly weather the building’s indoor pool and sauna have been a boon. The condo has recently been refurbished with Room&Board furniture and many extra commodities, including abundant bed/bath linens and table/kitchen ware. A nice feature of this flat is that is extremely versatile: perfect for a couple, with a double living room (convertible futon couch can make a “full” bed for guests), or for a family of three/four with the French doors closed to make a second bedroom. Academics will appreciate the fact that there is a desk in each room, with lots of daylight. Finally, the building personnel is wonderful, and there is a “neighbourhood” feel that makes life in this area of Chicago extremely pleasant (for example, the restaurant across the street has become a Sunday lunch favorite). If we ever return to Chicago, we will certainly stay here. Excellent PoggioloTuscany 2/13/2018 10:15:00 AM
We had a fantastic summer in Rebecca's Ohio Street Apartment. Everything was perfect. My spouse had a sabbatical assignment and we needed a place where we could lead active lives for all four of us (two kids, ages 11 and 8). This location was three blocks from lakefront activities, three blocks from the massive Maggie Daley children's park (putt putt, skating rink, multiple rock walls, multiple playgrounds), three blocks from Millennial Park and the list of conveniences goes on. We all had bikes and found parking in the building. We easily drove our car in and out of the very reasonably priced lot. The apartment itself was furnished perfectly -- all the cooking supplies we needed, all the towels, sheets, etc we needed. The beds were comfy (we used one couch as a pull out bed, the lighting was great. The lobby staff who answer all your questions and help with delivers and so on are so nice and friendly. We simply had a lovely experience with nothing missing among the essential living needs to make life easy and great. ((Oh, and, when we needed a swim - a big pool and hot tub are on the 5th floor; there is also an exercise room with new equipment which I utilized and the women's lyckerrrom - don't know about men's - had a sauna and a steamroom.))
