Medieval Provencal Village Home
Our three-story, two-bedroom comfortable renovated medieval home is nestled in this picturesque village in the foothills of Mont. Ste. Victoire immortalized in the paintings of Paul Cezanne.
Our home is located on a side street (a short, cobblestone culdesac called Impasse des Genets) just off of the main (Grande Rue) street that runs through the village. From the street entrance, you step into a modern, open kitchen leading to the dining and living room with an adjacent laundry room with a small half-bath. The living room has a large, comfortable sleeper sofa.
Upstairs on the second floor, you'll find the master bedroom and a full bathroom (Great shower and sink) and separate toilet room. On the third floor is the second bedroom with a bed that can convert to a sofa. This room leads out onto the small, but lovely roof-top terrace from which you can see the Mont Ste. Victoire range and below, the vineyards. As with so many village homes, the operative word here is “petit" but comfortable. This house will comfortably accommodate two couples or, a family with children would also be perfect for this space.
Puyloubier is a picturesque Provencal village and has everything you need - a bank machine, post office, grocery store (with all the basics including fresh produce), two boulangerie's (bakeries), two restaurants (one, Les Sarments, a highly-rated “gastronomical experience,” and Café Sainte Victoire, featuring lovely patio dining for lunch and dinner daily in the center of the village square.)
Puyloubier is home to award-winning, yet inexpensive wine cultivated from dozens of local vineyards and produced and sold in Puyloubier’s Wine Cooperative and at the local tasting rooms. The region is rich in cultural and outdoor activities, hosting many galleries, music festivals, and theater, as well as being a center for hiking, mountaineering, cycling, and swimming. Historical and religious ruins and sites of interest abound locally, but perhaps most arresting are the beautiful landscapes which have attracted artists from Van Gogh and Picasso to the Canadian Group of Seven, who stayed in a house only a few miles away.
There are endless scenic walks directly from the village and nearby trail heads and the area is heaven for cyclists, gourmands, and wine aficionados.
