Flat located in Rome, on the beautiful and green Monteverde Vecchio/ Gianicolo Hill, overlooking Trastevere, where in a few minutes walking it's possible to reach Piazzale Gianicolo and Acqua Paola Fountain to have the most astonishing views on the entire Rome. It's connected directly to Trastevere and then to the Tiber river, to the Vatican City/St. Peter Cathedral and the historical and archaeological city centre, which is reachable by bus in 10 minutes (Vatican City, Capitolium, Coliseum, Foro Romano, etc.) or walking down the hill in 20 minutes till St. Peter, Trastevere, Tiber river, Via Giulia, Piazza Farnese, Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Fontana di Trevi, til the Spanish Steps. Monteverde is the very green area of Rome and the nearby Park of Villa Doria Pamphili is the ideal natural space for long walking, jogging, biking, picnics etc. The nearby beautiful garden of Villa Sciarra is an extra green space where it’s possible to enjoy relax and fresh air. The area is loved by foreign academics, students and scholars: the American, Spanish, Finnish and Norwegian Academies are in Monteverde together with a few American Universities because of the beautiful dominant and central location, the huge natural green area of Park Doria Pamphili and the quite atmosphere of this residential part of Rome.

My husband and I just spent 8 months in this wonderful apartment in the beautiful medieval town of San Gemini. For such a small village, there are many hidden gems both within and outside the walls: festivals, religious celebrations, restaurants, a great piazza where locals and tourists alike gather, the nearby Roman ruins at Carsulae, small groceries in the town and a larger grocery within walking distance, art restoration, etc. The neighbors and townspeople are extremely helpful, but perhaps most importantly, the owners -- Gabriele and Valeria -- are the best landlords anyone from any country could ask for. They went way over and above what was hoped for in helping with our visas, providing translation services when needed, providing the kind of rental contract we required, and taking us on tours of Umbrian towns and restaurants.

We also stayed a time or two in their Rome apartment which we highly recommend for location, a park nearby, and the relaxing, contemporary decor.

Choose Umbria, choose San Gemini, and choose Gabriele and Valeria. You will not be disappointed.
