The home is situated at the edge of a small country village in southwestern France, 50 minutes below the Loire river towns of Angers and Saumur; St Clementin dates from the second century, having been on a Roman crossroad. This 3 bedroom home is completely equipped with high quality furnishings purchased for the comfort of the occupant. American owners live on adjoining property, this is the guest house, so we are available to help you enjoy your stay. If you are a gardener the property has a 6000 square foot garden plus tools. NEW! Second bathroom, making the master an ensuite with connecting door. Ideal for those on sabbatical as it is comfortable, in a village of 500 with bakery and restaurant yet with quick access to all services for normal life within 15 minutes (healthcare, banks, food, train station) and the endless enjoyable activities found only in France. Find inspiration in the most romantic and interesting country in the world. Our website, link below, has photos of some of the infinite number of interesting excursions available: from Loire Valley chateaux to Atlantic beaches to Paris, all can be a day trip, returning home to the comfort of La Chouette and the peace of a small country village. The region is hedgerowed like the Lake District of England, characterized by small farms, crisscrossed by rivers and liberally sprinkled with chateaux. The lack of crowds of tourists makes for easy driving, affordable restaurants and an authenticity to French life not available in regions that survive on tourism. When the GPS says you will arrive at a certain time, you will. A real advantage of this quiet, non-touristy area: incredible value for money in superb restaurants. There are tennis courts and soccer field in the village, hiking and biking paths, equestrian center close by, lake, large water parks, fishing on the rivers, open air and covered markets. We are the owners of a music conservatory in California, moved to France in 2008, and would favor those from the academic community.
