This beautiful one bedroom cottage has Alhambra style tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. and lovely floor tiles throughout. It has a double sofa-bed in the living room, flat screen TV for Spanish, UK and Worldwide TV channels facilitated by Wi-Fi and a tablet. Access from the car is on the flat to the cortijo (one floor cottage) and 4 terraces but there is also a lower terrace leading to further gardens and more fruit trees and grape vines. As a family home, it has a range of books in English and in Spanish, including art books, classic and quality novels, Spanish history and language books. Copies of paintings by famous artists line the walls. It is also fully equipped throughout, including dishwasher, microwave, automatic washing machine, fans, electric and charcoal barbecues, etc. The bathroom has a bidet and a shower over a full size bath and there is a separate w.c.
Five minutes drive (on tarmac roads apart from the first 400 meters) brings you to the small, typically Spanish town of Salobreña with its long sandy beach, lined with restaurants, its picturesque Arabic old town and Moorish castle, where tours, medieval suppers, concerts and other cultural events take place. Salobreña has many shops restaurants, boutiques and supermarkets. Ideally placed for its warm Mediterranean climate, Salobreña is one hour from Granada, Malaga and the Sierra Nevada, whose often snow capped peaks can be seen from the cortijo's terraces. Other local historic towns nearby include Almuñecar, with its lively sea front activities, Motril with its sugar cane museum, plentiful shops and bird sanctuary, Nerja, a bustling holiday town, La Herradura, famous for its art galleries and beach and Frijiliana, a pretty mountain village, all with fascinating histories and entertaining guides. Spectacular local countryside can be enjoyed, especially worth a drive: the old road to Granada from Jete. Then there is the stunning Alhambra itself, the old part of Granada - the Albaycin, the science museum and the highly reputed Granada University.
