Douglas Fir Retreat in the City

* 10-15 minute drive to downtown Seattle, Convention Center, University of Washington, beach/hiking trails
* Free parking
* Large yard
* non-smoking

Tucked away under large Douglas firs, our Seattle home is a short drive from some great neighborhood beaches and hikes... AND all the city has to offer.

We bought this home after living on the edge of Seattle's super walkable university district for seven years. We wanted to be able to get around easily, but we also wanted a home that captured the northwest feel a bit more. This home was perfect. The moment we stepped out of our car, we smelled evergreen trees. It felt we were in a different city, yet we were only a 10-minute drive from our old neighborhood.

What makes this House unique
The quiet neighborhood hides the fact that our place is so close to so much.

You'd never guess by the quietness of our street (another perk to all the NW trees), but we're just one minute away from I-5, which makes it easy to get to just about any part of the city or to areas to the north (whale watching, San Juan Islands). And it's still just a 10-minute drive to Carkeek Park with it's incredible terrain (wooded trails, saltwater beach, tidepools, playground, expansive mountain views, etc).

The home provides a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring. There’s a bright, sunny living room (with a comfortable sofa and love seat) right when you enter the house, plus a “bonus room” on the other side of the kitchen. There’s also a large shady back yard and 3.5 bedrooms to relax in.

Downstairs Bedrooms:
Two adorable bedrooms with hardwood floors, wood-trimmed windows, and views of the trees and yard. Queen size beds. Downstairs bedroom sizes: 13' x 10' and 11'3" x 9'.

Upstairs Bedrooms:
Feel like you're sleeping in the trees! Two connected bedrooms upstairs with skylights, knotty pine walls and cute built-in shelves and storage. Upstairs bedroom sizes: 12 x 11'6" and 8'8" x 8'4". Full size built-in bed in first room, connected second bedroom (with built-in table below the window) makes a nice office. (It's shown with an inflatable aero-bed in the listing photo.)

NON-SMOKERS ONLY.

About Me
My wife and I have two young children (just starting out elementary school). I teach ESL to immigrants and refugees at a community college, and my wife works on water-related projects (such as designing fish ladders for local salmon) at an engineering office. We love biking and traveling, and we try to combine the two as often as possible.
