SPACIOUS AND LIGHT APT, 2BD + OFFICE, 1.5 BATHS. NEAR HARVARD/MIT/TUFTS.

The apartment is spacious and airy, situated on the 2nd and 3rd floors of my two-family home. I live in the ground floor unit; so does Loki, our neighborhood Cat Mayor. Ours is a friendly and welcoming neighborhood, composed of people who have lived here all their lives as well as new comers from around the country and world.

PLEASE NOTE: I am doing renovations in the apartment this summer, so the photos are not the best. By the time it is rented the painting and repairs will be completed. All fresh and new!

*Updated Kitchen with Gas Stove, Dishwasher, Fridge/Freezer, Great Counter Space
*In-unit washer and dryer.
*Nice Hardwood Floors throughout Unit
*Full bath with shower on the 2nd floor, and half-bath on the 3rd.
*Furnished: Kitchen table and chairs; Living room futon sofa and chairs, beds and mattresses, dressers, linens, and desks.
*Kitchenware fully stocked; including microwave, toaster, and coffee maker.

We are in a great location - equal distance to Davis Square, Ball Square, and Porter Square and the grocery stores, food, entertainment, and shops in each.
We are also convenient to the MBTA Red Line and via bus connections the Green Line.
Harvard is 10 minutes away by bike and 25 on foot.

The house is adjacent to the Community Bike Path which runs from Somerville to Bedford, MA. A wonderful cycle, or good long walk on an often shady trail through multiple towns. There is a public indoor swimming pool 10 minutes from the house; and a public ice skating rink 20 minutes away.

About Me
Before settling in Somerville in 1999, I had lived most of my adult life in Europe, in particular, Belfast, London and Berlin. My work was at the interface of the arts and social and economic change, engaging artists to assist communities as they navigated new challenges and made meaning of their experiences. Again in the US, I have focused on building networks through which people, organizations and communities that are stuck can get themselves unstuck, and thrive. (My mother still hopes that one day I will have a job that others will understand...). I am the first in my family to attend university, the beneficiary of a scholarship program for poor, smart Appalachians. Which may explain my unorthodox career...then again, it might have the freedom I was given to follow what I learnt in life rather than a career trajectory. For the last 15 years I have partnered with the University of Southampton Department of Physics, providing a home to their star astronomers (pun intended) who are here completing masters at the Harvard Smithsonian Observatory. With COVID-19, the program is on hold in 2020 - 2021, and I am hoping again to rent the second unit in my house to visiting academics. It is a grand old house in a lovely, friendly neighborhood.
