Airy studio apartment in one of London's most delightful and prestigious streets

This light, sunny and airy high-ceilinged studio-apartment has a huge window and lovely long view over the mews. It is exceptionally quiet and peaceful. Situated on the second floor of a handsome stucco-fronted house on tree-lined Queen's Gate, the flat is just a stone's throw from Imperial College. The nearest Tube station, just moments away, is Gloucester Road. At the top of the street is Kensington Gardens, one of London's most glorious parks. At the bottom, you will find the V & A and the Natural History and Science Museums and, a little further, South Kensington Tube Station. Knightsbridge is a short walk away. The flat is extremely quiet and private. The window (which can be opened) has wooden shutters as well as gorgeous curtains. The kitchenette is hidden behind doors, with a fridge, an oven, two hobs, a toaster, a microwave and ample equipment for simple cooking. The room has a very comfy double bed (old brass bedstead), a large table with lamp and a good chair for working. There is a lovely chaise longue and a comfortable armchair. I supply plenty of high quality bed linen. The bathroom (shower in bath tub) is small and the loo is beyond it, in a separate room, with a washing machine. The building has a full-time caretaker.

About Me
I am a fulltime theatre critic for a British newspaper; my husband is a senior civil servant attached to the Foreign Office. We both work in London during the week (living in flat in Kensington, 5 minutes from Queensgate where this studio flat is). Should you need any advice about anything, we'd be so happy to help.

The flat has been perfect in many ways: well arranged, convenient to all transportation, within reasonable walking distance (10-20 minutes) to the services and sights I’ve needed or wanted; secure; and well cared for. It’s been a wonderful base for the work I had to do at my university, for meeting friends, and for getting to my favourite places in the city (shopping, museums, the South Bank, and so on). As a single person I found the studio roomy and comfortable; it would, I think, be suitable for a couple who plan to spend their time sightseeing, shopping, going to the theatre, and touring. This part of Kensington offers fine walking prospects through a variety of neighbourhoods with first rate shopping and dining opportunities, as well as being on the doorstep of some of the best museums in the world: the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the incomparable Victoria and Albert.

Georgina, the owner, is a pleasure to deal with -- professional, thoughtful, and friendly; the onsite caretaker is helpful and approachable; and the amenities make this self catering flat a really fine pied-a-terre.

I’m very pleased with the whole experience, and would recommend this sabbatical home to anyone who needs a short term let or stay in an remarkable, and convenient, part of London.
