Our newly renovated, cosy and comfortable 92 qm apartment – plus a 17 qm terrace, air-condition and elevator – is located on the 3rd floor of an over 500-year old former boathouse, at the heart of Cannaregio in Venice, Italy, where the locals still thrive.

The 92 qm apartment is close to the quarters San Marco and Castello, just 4 minutes away from the Ca’ d’Oro Vaporetto and Gondola stations, 7 mins from Rialto, 14 mins from St. Mark’s Square, its Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. In just 5 mins you can reach Fondamente Nove, and its direct connection, through the AlilLaguna (the Blue, or “B” Line) to the Marco Polo Airport (in about 38 minutes).

The two-bedroom-apartment is endowed with its own spacious terrace lit by the morning sun. From here, the view spans through the churches, rooftops and terraces of the area, all the way to old palaces and a courtyard with palms.

- Living room with fully-equipped open space kitchen with dishwasher, steam oven, cooking island, seating on a Marktex-table and seats for 4-6, a sofa in chesterfield style and leather for 3 (can be transferred into a bed), plus a suiting arm chair
- First bedroom with balcony with box-spring bed and corner windows, another sofa, cupboards.
- Second bedroom with canopy bed, sofa-bed and a cozy working station: a writing desk made of cherry tree wood (covered with green leather), with two extensions for books (on both sides), suiting armchair, shelves from cherry tree wood, all made by the same atelier in Padova
- The apartment is fitted with a brand new A.C. unit, Wi-fi, beamer, 2 m wide screen (removable to the ceiling) , sound bar, washing machine, wardrobe
- A newly made bathroom and a guest WC

About Me
Maria studied philosophy, political science and psychology in Münster, Munich, Paris and Berlin. She finished her studies as a Magistra Artium (M.A.) in 1995. In addition, she attended the German journalist school in Munich, which she finished in 1994. Already since 1991 she worked as a freelance journalist and critic. From 1995 to 2001 she worked as lecturer at the Freie Universität Berlin where she finished her Ph.D. in 2001. The next two years she spent as postdoc scholar at the graduate school “Körper-Inszenierungen“ [Body-staging] of the department of theater sciences, Freie Universität Berlin. From 2003 to 2004 she worked as a freelance culture journalist and theater producer. Between 2004 and 2009 she was an assistant professor at the Freie Universiät Berlin. The following 18 months she spent as a visiting research fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. From 2010 to 2011 she was a guest professor at the department of philosophy, Freie Universität Berlin and from 2011 to 2012 at the department of philosophy, Technische Universität Dresden. From Sept. 2012 till February 2017 she accepted a full professorship for “Aesthetics and Cultural Philosophy” at the Design Department of the University of Applied Sciences (HAW) Hamburg. From January 2015 till December 2017 she acted as a professoral member of the artistic and scientific graduate school “Performing Citizenship”, where she still surveys three PhD projects at the Hafen City University, Hamburg. In 2016 she received her second call and since March 2017 she works as professor of philosophy to the University of Art and Design Halle, Burg Giebichenstein. She is currently working on a monograph entitled: »Performing Radically. An untold history of Pop Culture.«, tracing the idea of a latent radicalness in pop culture back to the category of „use“ becoming ubiquitous since Jeremy Bentham invented the »Auto-Icon« (1832). Maria's research interests include cultural and media philosophy especially film and cinema, aesthetics and art philosophy, Leibniz, Kant, Schiller, Schelling as well as French philosophy of the 20th century, especially Deleuze and Foucault. Her monographs include: »Das Singuläre und das Exemplarische. Zu Logik und Praxis der Beispiele in Philosophie und Ästhetik« (Zurich/Berlin: diaphanes, 2010), »Janet Cardiff. The Walk Book« (Cologne: Walther König, 2005). »Bilder aus dem Off. Zum philosophischen Stand der Kinotheorie« (Bd. 4 der Reihe »Serie moderner Film« hrsg. von Lorenz Engell und Oliver Fahle, Weimar: vdg, 2005), »Gilles Deleuze im Kino: Das Sichtbare und das Sagbare« (Munich: Wilhelm Fink Verlag, 2003; 2nd edition Fall 2006) and »Gilles Deleuze im Wunderland: Zeit- als Ereignisphilosophie« (Munich: Wilhelm Fink Verlag, 2003).
