Cosy Sunny Home

Our home is located in a quiet and green neighborhood, ideal for a family with kids, as little and big parks, a gorgeous open-air swimming pool, kindergardens and a school are very close. But also for students and professors, our home offers various benefits, it is directly connected by public transport to the Medical University/Vienna General Hospital and the University of Vienna and its campus. Not far away starts the famous Vienna Forest with its numerous walking paths, perfect for hiking and walking in beautiful nature for the sportive ones among you and with the lovely restaurants 'Heurigen' within the vineyards where you can relax and enjoy your leisure time. Many shops are available on the nearby Hernalser Hauptstrasse.

The apartment features an open air balcony onto a very quiet and vast backyard. Part of it belongs to the house and is co-shared by inhabitants, mostly young couples. Our home is on the 3rd and last flour, so there is noone above you and the sun enters the house nicely almost all day, given its south orientation. The kitchen leads to the balcony, there is a master bedroom, a comfortable living room and a kids room. We raised our children here, so a crib and a bunk bed for an older child awaits you if you are coming with kids. We look forward to welcoming you !

About Me
Hi, I am an author and university docent for Arts and Culture. I am Vienna-based, but I teach at universities across Europe and the U.S. During the numerous travels our hospitable hope will welcome you. A student recommended me Sabbatical Homes due to his excellent experience with the site, and I would like to rent our artistic and cosey Vienna home situated conveniently to like-minded colleagues.

Excellent Annette 9/7/2020 2:58:00 AM
We found the flat to be just as described in the posting. It had plenty of room for us to live and work in. I loved the kitchen as we mainly ate at home. The location is wonderful for exploring Vienna. It was approximately a 15 - 20 minute walk to the city center. Likewise, the bus and subway stops are a short walk from the flat. The 16th district has wonderful diversity and I loved to walk to the market Saturday mornings. If you prefer malls, the Lugner City mall is a short walk away. Finally, our host provided detailed instructions for the flat as well as how to manage the city bureaucracy. She was flexible when we had to return home early due to the Coronavirus. We would absolutely stay here again. Excellent Linda 3/27/2020 7:18:00 AM

Our family spent this summer in June's (not her real name) place, while visiting the University of Vienna. First, June was a great host: friendly, upfront, very helpful. She was always available, and always willing to help in any way she could, not only in regards to the apartment, but also offering advice in navigating Austrian bureaucracy (of which there is a considerable amount).

June's description of the place is spot on. We don't have much to add except that we very much like these traditional Viennese buildings, with their high ceilings, large windows, and thick brick walls. Aside from the stylistic considerations, they are remarkably comfortable -- as Europe suffered from record breaking heat, we stayed (relatively) cool.

We also very much enjoyed the neighborhood. While we lived in close proximity to the center (20 minutes with the incredibly efficient public transportation system), the sixteenth district is more culturally diverse and is quite a bit more laid back than the inner city districts. We particularly enjoyed the large variety of ethnic food (one of our favorites was dining in the beautiful courtyard of Kent Restaurant, a Turkish restaurant at Brunnenmarkt, or walking 10 minutes to the Schutzhaus zur Zukunft -- a beer garden with good beer and Austrian food surrounded by the garden plots of the Schmelz.). Grocery stores and, in fact, stores with all possible necessities were in easy walking distance (Brunnenmarkt, Lugner City, a large selection of grocery stores). Last but not least, there are plenty of sports opportunities close by including a variety of outdoor pools, the indoor pool in Stadthalle, and tennis courts.
