About Me
Thank you very much for your interest in our property at 21st and E Streets NE, Washington, DC 20002. We look forward to having you as our guest, and we hope you enjoy your time in Washington, D.C. I came to D.C. from Kansas to follow my political dreams in 1999. I purchased this house in the early 2000s while working on Capitol Hill. I lived in the house until 2009 when my husband and I moved just a few blocks away. Living close to the property makes maintaining the unit relatively easy, and I like to address little problems before they become larger issues. The neighbors on either side of the house have been there since before I purchased the home. Most residents on the block have lived in the neighborhood for many years, but there are also new residents moving in every day. If you would like more information about what is going on in the neighborhood you can join the “Friends of Kingman Park” Facebook page or check out the blog by the local community board representative: http://anc7d01.org/ There are several grocery stores (Safeway and Aldi) less than a 1/2 mile from the house. A little further down H Street is a Giant grocery store and Whole Foods. H Street also has a plethora of bars and restaurants for you to enjoy. Costco is about a 10-minute drive from the house, as are several other national stores: Lowes, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Marshalls. There are numerous transportation options near the house. To the north on Benning Road there are several bus lines that run toward downtown, in addition to the new Street Car line. At this time the Street Car is free and will take you to Union Station. One block to the south of the house there is a BikeShare station, additional bus lines and the Stadium/Armory Metro station. The north entrance to the Metro is at E. Capitol and 19th Street and is about 0.6 mile from the house. It take about 10-15 minutes to walk. The links below have additional information about public transportation options near the house: Bike Share: https://www.capitalbikeshare.com/ Metro/Bus Schedules: www.wmata.com Streetcar: http://www.dcstreetcar.com/ There is much to see and do while in the District, and plenty of places to eat and drink along the way. Here are several web sites that will help you find things to do in DC: Destination DC: https://washington.org/ Smithsonian Museums: https://www.si.edu/museums Barracks Row: http://www.barracksrow.org/ Eastern Market: http://easternmarket-dc.org/ H Street: http://hstreet.org/businesses/eat/ We look forward to having you as our guest.
