Furnished One-Bedroom Basement Apartment

Furnished one-bedroom basement apartment in a private home, with separate entrance through the backyard! Welcoming, clean and quiet, ideal for graduate student, academic, or writer looking for a convenient yet peaceful abode. The home is located in a beautiful, long established residential neighborhood, yet which is also urban and close to everything including downtown DC. The apartment is charming and cozy (especially in Winter months – it is the warmest part of the house!) yet surprisingly spacious at approx. 900-square feet. The space consists of a large living room and dining area; a nice sized bedroom with walk-in closet; your own bathroom with tub; big windows in every room let in natural light. The apartment is furnished with the basics -- Full-sized bed, couch, dining table and chairs, desk, bookshelves. It’s OK to add your own touches, if not permanently affixed or the space is not used for storage. Other than a microwave and small refrigerator, there is no kitchen. So the apartment is best for someone who is not into cooking – who is on a school or work meal-plan or eats out alot or is happy with carry-out. And there are plenty of eating options in the neighborhood. Less than one block from the main campus of American University and near to everything – shops, restaurants, and services on New Mexico, Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues; nearby neighborhoods of Tenleytown, Georgetown, Glover Park, and Palisades; near to city bus routes (#N2, N4, D6), the AU Shuttle Bus, the Tenleytown Metro (subway) station. Beautiful Battery Kemble Park is two blocks away, for long walks in the woods. I am looking for someone who is responsible, clean, considerate, and quiet, who can provide excellent personal, academic and/or professional references. One month’s deposit in addition to the first month’s rent in advance. For a couple, the rent will be slightly higher to reflect greater water use and wear-and-tear. Please provide an explanation of why you are looking and a telephone number that you can be reached at. Thank you!
