During my research stay at Harvard, this place really felt like home! I stayed here with my husband and 6-year-old daughter, who went to kindergarten at the nearby elementary school. The owners, Dan and Sarah, are very helpful and extremely friendly and caring. They are very knowledgeable about all the interesting events and activities in Watertown and its surroundings (e.g. where to hike, where to go on a bike trip, which museums to visit, etc. etc.). We stayed here for a total of 6 months and were lucky to experience both winter and spring. Winter was a great time for my daughter (Dan and Sarah lent us their sleigh) and spring was simply beautiful with all the blossoms in full bloom in this quiet, friendly neighborhood in Watertown. The apartment itself is very spacious and comes fully equipped. It has a large kitchen and a cozy living room, which has a large closet that is full of books, games, tennis racquets, and other wonderful surprises (the squirrel game is our daughter’s favorite!). There are two bedrooms: one bright sunroom – that can also be used as a study - and a large master bedroom. All in all, we are very happy that we found this place and we can definitely recommend it!

We stayed in Dan and Sarah's apartment for about 9 months (from September 2017 to May 2018) and can only say good things about the experience.
Dan and Sarah have been extremely welcoming, generous and exceptionally helpful: they even provided us with bicycles, and a car seat and toys for our kid. The apartment is well kept, it has been equipped with everything we needed, it is charming and spacious, and conveniently located in a quiet and pleasant neighborhood and in close proximity to a library, parks, and public transportation (I've been commuting to MIT and found it entirely reasonable). It was warm and cozy during the Boston winter (we could adjust the heat according to our needs).
We wholeheartedly recommend the apartment, the landlords, the neighborhood, and everything else having to do with this place.

We rented this apartment in the summer of 2017 for two months and found the experience outstanding. The apartment is quite spacious for the location and the price and it was clean and tidy. The hosts were welcoming and very accommodating to our needs. In particular, they were happy to let us purchase an inexpensive air conditioner for the parlor and kitchen areas to supplement the units in the two bedrooms.
Although we only needed one bedroom most of the time, the second bedroom provided a handy place for crafts and quiet reading.
The location is convenient to Harvard and MIT. Bus lines are an easy 10 minute walk and they lead to the campuses or to easy connections via the MTA.
So, if you are looking for a place convenient to Cambridge, especially if you plan to stay more than a week or two, we think you will find this apartment will be ideal.

We, a family of four (4 and 11 years old kids), rented this apartment for six months from September to March. It is in a well-kept charming old house in a very nice neighborhood in Watertown. The house is the last one in a dead end street; it is very quiet and not much traffic. It is a five minute walk from Watertown Square with restaurants, shops, library, banks and bus connections to Harvard Square. Pre-school and elementary schools are within walking distance as well. The landlords, Dan and Sarah, live in the same house (separate entrance). They are very nice people, warm and welcoming - always helpful with everything!
We planned to buy a car, but after a few weeks we decided we really didn't need one. Buses run fairly often (every ten minutes or so) to Harvard Square - a 15-25 minute ride depending on traffic. Harvard Square has subway connection to Boston - trains run about every five minutes, and it takes 7-8 minutes to get to Park Street Station in the city center.
Dan and Sarah had a bicycle that we could use whenever we needed it, extending our radius to the shopping mall in Arsenal Street and other places. There is also a large supermarket (Star Market) right next to a bus stop between Watertown and Harvard Square.
Sometimes we needed a car though, and we used two services near Watertown. Enterprise car rental is a 5-7 minute walk from the apartment. The other option for short term needs was Zip car. They have a pick up spot in Newton, 15 minutes or so walk from the apartment.
We had a very nice stay in this apartment, and give it our best recommendations for families on sabbatical in Boston.
