Sunny Spacious Brooklyn, NY Apartment to Share

Away from hustle and bustle of Manhattan and yet so close! On express line to Manhattan! If you don't know New York, this may seem far away. but it is a 20-30 minute subway ride to midtown Manhattan.

Spacious, sunny, second-floor apartment. The apartment is fully furnished, very clean and tenant will have access to fully-equipped kitchen. Private furnished bedroom, shared dining room/kitchen/bath/wireless is $700/week which includes all utilities.

The neighborhood is Sunset Park, and the apartment is 4-5 blocks from the N/D/R train, an express line which gets riders into Manhattan in 20-30 minutes. The immediate area is a safe working class/middle class neighborhood, with many Mexican, Dominican, and Puerto Rican residents. Brooklyn Chinatown is a few blocks away. The area has grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, bodegas and several cafes within walking distance. There is parking on the street.

NOTES: I have a sweet, playful cat. Please note that this room is for let to ONE person only, and I will be living in the apartment. Although it is a roommate situation you will have plenty of privacy and quiet time. I expect the same as I work at home several days /week. I am respectful, quiet and pleasant. I am not much of a talker, although I enjoy intelligent conversation about social issues, art, politics, and cultural topics. No smoking in the apartment please.

About Me
I am a Professor of American History and American Culture at Empire State College in New York. I am not a terrifically social person, but very much enjoy good conversation about social issues and intellectual work. I've lived in Brooklyn for twelve years and am a good guide to the city.

I stayed at Kim's apartment for 3 months. She is absolutely wonderful. She is very respectful of the shared space and her tenants' privacy. She also is very helpful. The apartment itself is clean and is divided into 2 parts with 2 separate entrances. One part is Kim's part, the other part would be tenant's room + dining room + kitchen + bathroom. Hence, it did not feel like a shared apartment but more like an individual apartment most of the time. The apartment is also on the 2nd floor and looks into a garden. The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood of working-class families. Even late at night, walking back from the subway station, I did not feel unsafe. It is a couple of blocks from the express subway lines (D and N). Laundry and shopping are nearby, too. I highly recommend it. Excellent Esen 11/12/2017 9:43:00 AM
I spent five weeks sharing Kim's apartment in 2016. I visit New York City for work several times and this was my best-ever stay. Kim had arranged the apartment with separate access doors for me and her, while sharing the kitchen and bathroom worked fine. On days when I saw her she was a delightful flatmate; on days when she worked in the city I might not see her, and her place proved a good work base for me. I chose to stay in Sunset Park as I find this Brooklyn district fascinating, the shopping streets lively, the historic park healthy, the view of the harbour spectacular. But for those who need to be in Manhattan a lot the subway service is frequent; central Brooklyn areas are close by; the coast also convenient. Next time I visit NYC this will be my first choice of lodging; it is recommended for both shorter and longer sharing stays. You will not find a more positively helpful flatmate than Kim.
