Hartford, CT Residence and Research Institute
This house is both the residence and a research institute: The Hartford School of Applied Social Theory. It is located on a very quiet dead end street across the street from Saint Francis Hospital and just a few miles from downtown.
There are two potential rooms for rent. You will find the diagram of both rooms among the photos. The pink room is "Room 1" and the second "Main Bedroom 2" is the large room with a sitting room attached.
The large room would be very suitable for a couple. It is 10 x 20, along with a private sitting room and a closet, so there is plenty of space. (It's the room painted sort of turquoise.)
The listing shows $1000/month--that's for the large room. The second room is $750.
There is a full bathroom directly across the hall from both rooms. And another half bath downstairs off the kitchen.
There is a den on the second floor for entertainment purposes (movies, and so on). The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all on the first floor and that is generally a space of study. This is a quiet neatly kept place--prospective tenants would be expected to participate in maintaining this atmosphere.
Utilities: The heat and appliances are all gas. There is high capacity and high speed Wifi in the house. Each resident in the house will pay an equal share of the utilities (gas, electric, and wifi) and be expected to help keep the house extremely neat, as this is not only a home, it is a place of research work.
This house needs tenants who can be especially attentive, responsible, and caring for the house and its furnishings, which are of high quality.
The property has a beautiful and extremely private back yard for the warmer months and a lot of potential for any gardening enthusiasts.
NO PETS--NO EXCEPTIONS
The photos of the rooms are furnished from previous occupants but there is flexibility on that issue. There are some pieces of furniture that can be used if you desire them.
This is a strict COVID safe house. Nobody in the house comes and goes from crowded unprotected places. My own habit, as owner and director or the school, is to go only to the store when absolutely necessary. Prospective tenants need to be on board with this approach. Social bubbles are fine, as long as they are negotiated transparently and fully.
I'm happy to answer any further questions. The dates of arrival and departure are completely flexible.
I'm at the residence approximately half the time. I'm the director of the school but also teach up at Smith College in MA. So a great deal of the time, you will have the entire house to yourself.
