Professional/creative family needs short HQ for relocation after wildfires

Hello! We're a professional writer/software sales couple--remote workers since long before 2020 hit--looking to relocate from our wildfire-decimated arts community in Northern California. Madison is our chosen destination, and we plan to buy sometime around mid-2021. We're interested in renting or housesitting a furnished place, preferably near where we hope to buy a humble, vintage home we can cherish... in the near west, Midvale Heights, etc. area.

We're health-conscious nerds who love being at home, listening to intellectually stimulating podcasts, doing yoga, playing games, and enjoying quiet conversations filled with inside jokes and bad puns. We love the idea of being near walkable amenities, hike/bike trails, and likeminded folks.

We've been reliable home-keepers, always paying our house note on time, keeping to a near OCD ritual of evening tidying, and basically making our home space a place of security and refuge. We hope to find our "forever home" by fall of 2021, but would love to get ourselves out there to be able to look in person (and take great care of your space) as early as December or January.

Please hit us up with anything that might come close to ticking most of our list of wants. We're flexible with the specifics, as long as you can be flexible with our departure when we do find a home to purchase. :) And cross your fingers for us...we're gonna need it. You see the real estate market out there? WHEW.

We're a professional couple with two sweet younger teens, reluctantly but optimistically leaving the arts community we love in the mountains of beleaguered northern California and making our way to Madison longterm. We're academically-oriented, but no current scholarly status except for interest in Chicago and area, and living a life committed to ongoing intellectual exploration. Bottom line? We need a secure spot from which to do our home hunt.
