Fully furnished 2200 sq.ft. two level home (ground level and 2nd floor)in a quiet neighbourhood on the West side of Vancouver. Close to UBC, St. George's and Crofton House schools. Sunken living room with vaulted ceiling and large picture windows. Custom made millwork and cabinetry. Tile and hardwood floors throughout house. In-house sound system throughout house. Ample storage cabinets and closets. Small but tranquil garden spaces both front and back with sitting areas.

Two level house (ground and upper level). Stairs leads to the upstairs level. Please note there are approximately 14 stairs leading to the upstairs so families with very small children, the elderly or members with restricted mobility may not be best suited for Il Nido Felice as accessibility and safety of having to climb or descend stairs daily may be an issue for them.

The house is most ideal for families with older children, mature couples or professionals needing a comfortable home to stay in Vancouver while on sabbatical, location shoots, and or work-related jobs that require a few months stay. Also a great place to stay if you are relocating to Vancouver and need time to find your own place as Il Nido Felice comes fully equipped.

Note: Owners use lane way house in the back. Shared garden. Your privacy is respected but if you need anything, the landlord is always a telephone call away. All garden, path and sidewalk maintenance is included in rental fee.
The garden is a delight for bird and nature lovers - lots of birds and
wildlife visit or are visible from the property on a regular basis. Check out one of the photos in our photo gallery. It shows two of the raptors that can be seen in our neighbourhood from time to time. The one with the Cooper's Hawk was taken when it landed on our mailbox!

ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING, DRUGS or FIREARMS allowed. Any breach of these conditions will result in immediate termination of the rental agreement and no refunds. Damage deposit may be applied for removal of smoke and repairs. No Smoking rule applies to all tobacco products (cigarettes, pipe, cigars, electronic cigarettes, cannabis including chewing tobacco). Growing of cannabis is not allowed on the Property.

This is a quiet residential area. Property is to be used exclusively for residential purposes and is not a party house.
(Please be respectful of the neighbours' peace and privacy ).
Please note: The property is restricted to a maximum of 10 people at any one given time and no more than 5 people are allowed to live in the house.
Removal of shoes is preferred when inside house. Absolutely No stiletto, high heels, cleats or any footwear that can damage the hardwood floors please.
No food or eating in the bedrooms.
Landlord reserves the right to inspect premises with 24 hours' notice.
From time to time, the landlord may have to perform maintenance jobs inside the house. The work will be scheduled after a pre-arranged time in order to minimize any inconvenience our guests.

Regular rate - rental rate is based on a nightly rate of C$174/nt, minimum of 30 nights lease. (e.g. rent is C$5220/mo., based on a 30 night stay; $5394 if month has 31 nights).

Breakdown of Payment:
Deposit to secure reservation $2610 (CDN) + one time cleaning fee of $300(CDN) at time of booking. Balance + damage deposit ($2000) due 30 days prior to occupancy. (Note: the damage deposit amount is fully refundable 7-14 days after guests have vacated the premises and if there is no damage to Property).
One Time Cleaning Charge: C$300. This fee is for preparation and detailed cleaning of the Property for the next rental just as the place will be prepped for your stay. Upkeep such as taking out the garbage daily, regular cleaning of sinks and toilets is appreciated for hygienic reasons and is the responsibility of the guests.
Damage Deposit: C$2000 (fully refundable after 7-14 days after check-out if no damage to property).

Cancellation: Reservations cancelled prior to 60 days before the date of arrival are fully refundable. At 60 days prior to arrival date, reservations can no longer be cancelled & any payments will be forfeited with the exception of the cleaning fee .

Check-out time: 11:00 (Firm)

For stays longer than a month, rent payment by post-dated cheques due the 1st day of each month for the duration of the lease. In addition, for bookings longer than 6 months, the deposit to hold the reservation will be equivalent to the first month's rent.

Great location! The house is very centrally located. So much to see and do! And all within close proximity to the house. We are minutes away from nature trails, gardens, supermarket, schools/university, hospitals, museums, concert and sports venues, shops, and the ocean. Downtown Vancouver and the airport are about 20 minutes away (non rush hour). For those who will be working with the University or Hospitals, the house is a 16-minute drive to VGH (Vancouver General Hospital). A 12-minute drive to BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre as well as to UBC Hospital.

Walking distance to:

Dunbar shopping strip (Dunbar Village) where you can find cafes,
bakeries, drugstore/Post Office, wine store, supermarkets and mom and pop markets, optical shops and doctors and dentists' offices, barber shops, hair and nail salons, banks and the Dunbar movie theater which shows first run films (built in 1935 and just a 5 minute walk from the house) .

It's a 5-minute or less walking distance to Dunbar Community Centre
(http://dunbarcentre.org/dunbar/) where you can have access to the
Tennis Courts, Gym, Yoga Classes, Badminton, etc, by paying a drop-in fee.

A 9-minute walk or a 2-minute drive (5 blocks from house) to Stong's Market (local supermarket and deli).

An 8-minute walk to Pacific Spirit Regional Park that has great walking, birding, biking and running trails.

A 6-minute drive (or 27-minute walk) to Camosun Bog, located at the edge of Pacific Spirit Park. A great place to walk and learn about this 2000+ year old bog. The bogland supports many specialized plants and played a vital role in sustaining the Musquem people as the rich natural ecosystem allowed for quick gathering of food and supplies. Its been restored over the years with a 300m long boardwalk being built for people to stroll through and enjoy this natural vegetation.

Driving/busing distance to:

5-minute drive to riding stables in Southlands

About a 10-minute drive to Jericho and Spanish Banks beaches. Besides being a great place to walk there are lessons and rentals available for sailing, stand-up paddleboard, kayak, skimboard and windsurfing.

About Me
I'm an artist/photographer who enjoys travelling, music, cooking and Art. I love Nature and am inspired by it. I'm also a passionate birder and an Italiophile. I enjoy Sci-Fi and foreign films. I've worked many years as a retailer and always enjoyed meeting people and learning about different cultures and languages. I look forward to making your stay at Il Nido Felice (Italiophile and birder, remember? LOL) a pleasant and comfortable one. I have very eclectic taste and this is reflected in the decor of my house. You will find both European and Asian influences, bright happy colours on the wall and whimsical art scattered throughout the house. I am an amateur gardener and have tried to incorporate certain plants that will attract birds in the garden as well as plants with pretty flowers and scents. I believe in an organic approach to gardening so it is a constant battle to rid pests as I do not believe in using pesticides. There is a small section of the garden where I have planted herbs such as rosemary, oregano, mint and chives which guests are welcome to use during their stay. I speak English fluently and basic Mandarin, and Italian, and a little Spanish and French. I have been fortunate enough to have grown up, lived and gone to school (UBC is my Alma Mater) in this area for most of my life. So it was natural to find a house in the same area when I got married. It's a great house - it's comfortable, cozy and has character. The house is located in the community called Dunbar-Southlands, an area full of tree-lined streets (i.e. habitat and food for birds and squirrels!) & historically, it is an older community of Vancouver. How old? There is evidence from archaeological digs that Southlands was inhabited by the First Nations people as early as 400 B.C. How cool is that! By the way, when you are staying at Il Nido Felice, don't forget to check out our glacier rock boulders (you see only the tops of them) still buried in our backyard. The following information attributed to Terry Slack, was taken from the Dunbar Community Center's newsletter on an article about a similar rock that was unearthed by a work crew on Dunbar Street in 2011: "Technically speaking, the rock is called an erratic. It is made of very hard granite and may have come from the Coast Mountain Range or even farther afield. It would have been part of a glacier that covered Dunbar about 14 thousand years ago. When the glacier melted it parked itself on Dunbar’s doorstep. It remained covered with melt water, rock, gravel and sand until it was discovered by the city crew. It is estimated to weigh in excess of 40,000 lb." In our case, we were excavating the backyard during construction of the Laneway House in the back when the workers uncovered 2-3 humongous boulders. They were so heavy that the small backhoe truck they were using to move the soil started to tip when they tried to move the boulders! So the decision was made to leave them be and just expose the tops of the boulders as a retaining wall for the flower beds. This fully equipped house is in a great location. It is close to the University Endowment Lands which is adjacent to the Pacific Spirit Regional Park & UBC. We are very fortunate to still have some Old Growth trees in our area. "There is one large swath of old-growth forest, ... that remains, & it contains trees that may be about 400 years old! This forest is easily accessible and... highly visible from campus...seen as a wild, ancient skyline that rims the south and western part of UBC campus . This & Stanley Park are the only remaining old-growth forests immediately adjacent to Vancouver" (https://vancouversbigtrees.com/ubcs-forests-and-big-trees/ ). This home is unique due to its proximity to Nature in an urban setting. In my travels all over the World, it is alarmingly harder to see birds in an urban setting. I feel blessed that I am able to see or hear daily at least 6-10 different species of birds in my own yard. Birds are an indication of the health of our planet's ecosystem. To hear a bird sing, gives me hope. Centrally located, Il Nido Felice is within a short distance (by car or bus) to UBC, Downtown Vancouver & to the Vancouver International Airport. That means no hour long commutes from house to such destinations as experienced in many cities like London, Rome, or Manila. Your stay at Il Nido will be both Comfortable and Convenient. I truly look forward to welcoming you here.
