This is a very clean 2nd floor apartment in a classic eastside, two-flat house. The unit is large (1100 sq. ft.) with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a furnished office, a big, sunny, open kitchen and comfortable living room with 50" smart tv (no cable). It's available for a minimum of 1 month and maximum of 12 month rental. The apartment was recently remodeled and furnished with ALL NEW FURNITURE and APPLIANCES. It has the feel of a very nice hotel but the amenities of a personal home. You'll enjoy a private entrance with your own lock code and, really, the apartment has everything you'll need except your food, clothes and toiletries. - in-unit, full sized washer and dryer (LG) - dishwasher - garbage disposal - vacuum cleaner - kitchenware, tableware, linens, bedsheets, towels, extra blankets - excellent dedicated wifi - brand new windows and siding make for a cozy environment, even in winter! The beautiful hardwood floors are original and there's lots of closet space and storage. The house is served by one furnace which is controlled by the lower apartment, where we live. We are happy to adjust the thermostat at your request - just ask! The air-conditioning for the house is provided by moveable floor units and is not central. However, these 1000BTU units cool the whole apartment with no issues. As I mentioned, we live in the apartment below and have been on Madison's east side for over a decade. We're a quiet couple with a golden retriever (who, by the way, would love to meet you for pets on the porch anytime :) and both of us work in community-oriented jobs. We strive to be responsible, responsive, and RESPECTFUL hosts as well as a resource for information about the area. Most importantly, the apartment is your home while you're here. The neighborhood is filled with friendly folks of all kinds - retirees, families, grad students, service industry workers, tradespeople, artists, and professionals. Across the street from our house is a small, well loved and often used park. Our little block is pretty quiet but you can walk up the street and be in the bustling heart of the Schenk-Atwood neighborhood with restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and more. Here are some highlights of the neighborhood: - most errands can be done on foot or by bike - Jenifer St Market (full service grocery) - the Barrymore Theater - multiple coffee shops - Community Pharmacy - book shop, chocolate shop, soooo many restaurants and pubs! It's 2 blocks to bus stops that take you anywhere in the metro area in about 20 mins. Drive 10 mins to downtown, campus, and the airport. If you like cycling, the bike path and a B-Cycle bike rental station is 1,5 blocks away, The bike paths can take you anywhere in Madison and beyond! - No smoking or vaping on the property (of anything) - No pets (please don't ask) - No children under the age of 12 (younger children may visit with prior notice) - No parties/events - max of 6 people at any time. - Overnight guests allowed with prior notice. - 4 people total (tenants + guests) may sleep in the apartment. Please note: Each additional tenant (up to four total) is an additional $100 per month. (2 people = $2300/mo; 3 people = $2400/mo; 4 people = $2500/mo) Disclosures: - The house was built in 1908 and, while updated and well-maintained, it's quirky. The floors squeak a bit and the stairs are pitched steeply. I'm sure there are other things as well. - This is a lively, happy, mixed use, mixed income, mixed everything neighborhood. Kids play in the park, people walk their dogs, bicycles are ridden all year 'round. In other words, it's not rural or even suburban. - We're only 10 minutes from the Madison airport and, depending on the wind, the area is sometimes under the flight path of the jets. During the winter, this is a not an issue. In the summer, with the windows open, it can surprise you - but it never lasts more than 30 seconds...
