Home in Coyoacan District

Our home is a remodeled two story family house at the end of a quiet gated cul-de-sac in the Coyoacan district of Mexico City. It has a small garden in the front and a bigger little garden in the back (12x7 m) with a covered patio area and patio furniture. The back of the house has glass doors that open to the garden which is visible throughout downstairs - nice to come home to after being out in the city. We spend a lot of time in the patio. Upstairs are three bedrooms, TV room with the laundry room annexed, and 2 bathrooms. I need to leave things in one of the rooms or TV room and close it off and we can discuss which one to use. Downstairs has open spaces, iron beams, polished cement floor, an office, and hardwood stairs.

The master bedroom has a queen bed, the 2nd bedroom has a full size bed, and the third bedroom has a trundle bed with two singles. The TV room has a double sized pull out couch.

The neighborhood is residential, with tienditas and taquerias around the corner. Our street is two blocks from busy Taxquena Avenue, which takes you to historic Coyoacan center, with its market, Frida Kahlo museum/house, church, restaurants, and bustling plazas (not walking distance; you take a cab/uber for about $4 USD). On Taxquena is the Southern Bus Station and the Taxquena subway station. You can get to Cuernavaca (Hacienda de Cortez, the city of eternal spring, water parks), Tepoztlan (known for its weekend market, pyramid on a cliff, beautiful weather), Taxco (known for its silver) Acapulco, etc, from this bus station. The subway will take you to the Zocalo, or city center, with museums, theaters, historic attractions (pyramids of Plaza Mayor, cathedral, national palace with Diego Rivera murals, etc.), shops, etc. This is not in the central, historic part of Coyoacan and to get there you must take a bus or car (hard to walk across Tlalpan avenue).

I plan to take our small dog with me, but leave the cat and 2 turtles. We can arrange for the housecleaner to take care of plants and clean if you like.

About Me
We are an American-Mexican family of four, located in Mexico City. We are living in WA DC for the 2013-2014 school year while I (mom) was on sabbatical from my position with a US foundation's MC office. We were able to find great housing through sabbatical.com We would like to rent a place for summers, or in exchange for our Mexico City home. We are open to new destinations pretty much anywhere. We like to travel and to discover new places. We speak English, Spanish and French.
