Small-Town Chic
This private single-level brick home is situated in the Grove Park neighborhood near downtown Childersburg, AL. Grove Park is a well-kept, working-class, family-friendly neighborhood where kids can be seen playing in the yards and where folks take walks with friends and dogs. The 3BR 2B home was a labor of love for my husband and I in 2018. Avid DIYers with an artistic eye, we used salvaged wood to build counter-tops in the kitchen, left-over hardwood from my dad's flooring business was used to accent walls and ceiling in surprising ways and to build a barn door for the 2nd bathroom off the fully-equipped laundry room. Arched doorways, hardwood floors, and subway tile in the happy modern kitchen make it a favorite room to get busy in. Stem to stern, this home has a sophisticated masculine, old world style that makes for interest wherever you look. We welcome well-behaved fur babies and supply a luxury bed just for them. The backyard is fully fenced in and has a small bbq deck and grill for multi-tasking dinner prep while never missing the fun outback. For those morning coffees or evenings when the breezes blow, the large front porch offers a marvelous atmosphere for relaxation. It features dimmable recessed lights for setting the mood at night. The Childersburg/Sylacauga area is just a short drive into Birmingham, but there are many outdoor activities as well as local spots to enjoy just down the road or around the corner. If you are looking for a quiet place to get back to center away from the hustle and bustle, you can definitely do that here. This tightly-knit community still waves at strangers and invites them to supper. We have a community garden and farmers who give tours for free. Fresh eggs are easy to come by and often a trade of some sort can be arranged. We hope you'll consider our genuine hospitality and stay long and talk much.
