Retreat to the beauty of the Tuscan countryside! The CASA COLONICA is a quiet and autonomous half of an 18th-century villa with its own garden, a tastefully furnished, comfortable apartment on two floors that sleeps 4 +1 child (the owners live in the other, totally separate half). It has been fully renovated and features, over and above the two spacious bedrooms and large bathroom with tub/shower, a eat-in kitchen area with modern appliances, a living/dining room with antique table and wicker reading chairs, a sitting room with SatTV/DVD, and other amenities such as WIFI suitable for remote working, AC + heating (4 heat pump 'split' units) in bedrooms + downstairs, child gate on stairs, garden areas (with garden furniture for dining al fresco or an evening apéritif complete with spectacular sunsets, and 180° view). Parking on premises (also with a view ... deer in evening!). NO PETS and NO SMOKING please - allergy sensitive accommodation. SCREENS on all upstairs windows. AC in bedrooms + downstairs + FANS in every room in summer (with thick walls and traditional architecture, the house remains delightfully cool in high summer and warm in autumn, so many people never use the AC/heat pumps !!!). The Casa Colonica is decorated with antiques and traditional furniture. You will find guidebooks, cookbooks, recreational reading, and some games. As the home measures ca. 145 sq.mt/ 1560 sq.ft (plus an over 200 sq.mt garden) there is plenty of room to spread out. LOCATION: Il Poggiolo is 15 min. from the Valdarno exit on the A-1 highway, and only 30 to 45 min. from Florence, Siena and Arezzo. As it is in the countryside, a car is necessary. Groceries can be delivered from local village. The train from Montevarchi reaches downtown Florence in a convenient 35 minutes (the owners commute to work). Arezzo is reachable by car or train (as are also Pisa and Bologna, Rome, Cortona and Orvieto). Siena is best reached by car. A perfect base for day trips to explore Tuscan hill towns, both in the lesser known Valdarno and in the celebrated Chianti region. Excellent quality of life in this truly Tuscan area with good local services, charming villages, gourmet food markets, excellent wines and restaurants, thermal spas, country walks and serious trekking. For families on sabbatical, school bus service at end of driveway (elementary through middle school). No pets or smoking (inside) please - allergy controlled environment.
