My south London home is a three storey 1870's terrace house with a walled garden. I'm looking to rent a room in my house and share the rest of the beautiful space with you. I've converted part of the house, on the raised ground floor, into my art studio. The kitchen/dining room on the lower ground floor has a study area. It also opens out onto the south facing walled garden. It's a lovely space for breakfast in the morning sunshine. The bedroom to rent is on the top floor at the back of the house. The shared bathroom is nearby as is the second bedroom that I occupy. There is a lounge on the raised ground floor at the front of the house. Its a very vertical house so be prepared to for the stairs. The house is situated in Walworth. You probably haven't heard of it- I hadn't before I moved here. It's an undiscovered gem of a neighbourhood. It is very friendly. It is wonderfully diverse. In 30 minutes you can be in Central London or the City. My cycle journey takes about 15-20 minutes. There are excellent bus, tube (the local station is Kennington) and overground rail services (Elephant and Castle) services close by. There is a bike rental docking station within 10 minutes walk from the house. While Walworth is inner city it is remarkably green -there are several parks within a few minutes of the house. The Walworth Road is the main shopping street. It is 5 minutes away. It has an amazing range of shops, cafes and restaurants (Afro-caribbean, Chinese, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese and Nigerian as well as lots serving a variety of South American foods). One of the few remaining 'Pie and Mash' cafes is 5 minutes walk away if you fancy this local London delicacy. The 24 hour Turkish deli just around the corner is amazing. The local street market, East Street Market, runs 6 days a week and has fish mongers as well as many fruit and vegetable stalls. If you are a cook you will be spoilt for choice. The local theatre is the Southwark Playhouse. The Cinema Museum nearby regularly shows classic films. Closer to the river, the south bank has a rich array of cultural institutions; National Theatre, National Film Theatre, South Bank Centre, the Old Vic and the Young Vic theatres. You can walk to all in 30 minutes or you can take a bus from the end of the street.
