Artist's Flat with Private Roof Terrace for Rent in North London NW5

Much loved, self-contained one bedroom flat with private roof terrace in owner’s converted Victorian house in a popular, quiet, tree-lined street, one minute's walk from public transport (buses and underground to central London and overland train to Richmond, Kew Gardens and the National Archive) and the great range of shops, cafes and amenities of Tufnell Park and Kentish Town. One minute walk from Tufnell Park tube station on the Northern Line. Ten minutes from Kentish Town tube and overground to Blackfriars (Tate Modern/ Shakespeare's Globe Theatre/ South Bank) in 20 minutes, Brighton on the South coast and many other great places for a day out of the city! 10 minutes’ walk from the green spaces of Parliament Hill Fields and Hampstead Heath. The international rail terminal at Kings Cross (for Eurostar to Brussels, Paris and the south of France, as well as good connections north, east and south of London) is a short bus or tube journey away.
The British Library, University College London, Birkbeck College, SOAS, King's College, City University, Courtauld Institute, Central St Martin's, University of the Arts, British Museum, Wellcome Library and Foundation, National Gallery, West End Theatres, Camden’s Jazz Café, are a few stops down on the tube and there are bus stops nearby for day and night buses. The Northern line now runs all night at weekends.

There is a good quick rail connection to Kew for the National Archive and Kew Gardens from nearby Gospel Oak station.

Local shops include Sainsbury’s supermarket (7am to 11pm, 7 days a week), "Earth" - a Health food store, "Phoenicia" a multi ethnic supermarket, independent Butcher, Fishmonger, Italian and French delicatessens and wine stores, general 7 day grocery stores and greengrocers with late night opening, newsagents, dry cleaners, beauty salons, yoga and Pilates centres and hairdressers, two gyms, cafes, Ethiopian, Korean, Italian, French, Turkish, Sardinian, Thai restaurants, gastro pubs. Most are within a few minutes' walk. Our nearest local shops, cafes and restaurants have been singled out for praise in the Financial Times for 17/18 January 2015 in a piece by Nicholas Lander titled "Bienvenue à NW5" which notes recent developments in the area. There is a Saturday Farmer’s market nearby at Parliament Hill for organic produce from individual suppliers (praised by well known chef and restaurateur Giorgio Locatelli) and another one on Sundays in Kentish Town. Local public swimming pool in Kentish Town and open air pool nearby in Parliament Hill.

Whilst I have travelled widely and also lived in Florence, Italy, for many years, I am a lifetime Londoner and love having guests to stay and to help them discover the city.

Rental fee includes all bills including council tax, gas, electricity, water, wifi connection and the provision of bed linen and towels.

Comfortable well-furnished flat with paintings, sculptures, some antique Tuscan furniture, books on Art, Architecture, History, maps, guidebooks and local information.
The flat is completely independent, situated at the back of the house and all windows look onto a secluded garden. It is on two levels, with no other floor above, so it is both quiet and very private. You enter on the ground floor where there is a sitting room with a sofa, painted dresser, coffee table, lamps, TV, wicker chairs, bookcases, leading into a well equipped kitchen that seats three to four people. There are fitted storage units, an electric oven with gas hob, fridge with small freezer and a washing machine. Next door to the sitting room is a small intermediate space leading to the bathroom with bath, shower, wc, sink and a mirror covering one wall.
A wrought iron spiral staircase leads upstairs to the bedroom which has fitted wardrobes, a painted Tuscan bed, chairs, side tables and reading lights on either side of the bed and a table in a small alcove for writing or a computer. There is a second en suite wc. The bedroom has a glazed door opening on to a pretty private roof terrace with a garden table and two chairs.
The sitting room has a wooden floor and rug, the bedroom has a fitted carpet. Gas Central heating, video entry phone, wi-fi internet connection, TV with extra Freeview channels. Use of all utilities is included in the rental price.

This is my base when I am in London and I particularly enjoy its proximity to Hampstead Heath for walks and views over London: walks which take you to Keats House and Keats Library, Freud's House, Burgh House, Fenton House, Camden Arts Centre, Kenwood House with its paintings by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Hals, Van Dyck, Reynolds, Gainsborough and Constable (now re-opened after 18 months of impressive restoration work), Hampstead and Highgate Village, Highgate ponds and Lido for outdoor swimming throughout the year, Waterlow Park and atmospheric Highgate Cemetery where Karl Marx and many other famous people are buried. There is a good indoor local swimming pool and gym in Kentish Town. rates, and the provision of bed linen and towels, but not cleaning during your stay.

The flat is suitable for one person or a couple. It is not suitable for children.

The flat is a nice place, very well located near metro and bus service ( all the night),good bakery, pub´s , restaurants and excellent commerce at one block from the apartment .There is also a swimming pool in the neighborhood. The apartment is very silent, with a nice terrace, and a good view to a garden near. I loved to stay and certainly I highly recommend. Excellent Pablo Benetti 1/31/2020 2:47:00 PM
We stayed in Rea's Maisonette in the summer of 2016 and again for a month in 2017. (We were keen to come back). It is a comfortable, quirky, arty space, which quickly came to feel like home. Very good location - close to Tufnell Park Tube and to multiple bus routes. The immediate neighbourhood is very pleasant, with some excellent food and drinks shops very close, as well as all the basic stores you will need. Hampstead Heath is not far away. Rea (and her husband Giovanni) are extremely friendly, gracious and helpful. We enjoyed our stays very much and are very happy to recommend the Maisonette to anyone wanting to rent in this part of London. Anthony & Jeanine

Rea's flat is an island of beauty and calm in busy London: walls lined with paintings and windows (and upstairs deck!) that look out onto gardens. I stayed in the flat for six weeks in the spring of 2019 and had a chance to discover the wonders of its location too, from the fabulous Spence bakery just around the corner (next to a fresh produce market, and a handful of boutique grocery shops, not to mention a Sainsbury), to the nearby weekly farmers' market, bordering on Hampstead Heath, to the restaurants and fun of Kentish Town. The flat is also at a hub of public transportation options. The Tufnell Park tube stop of the Northern Line is just steps away, giving a person quick access to the British Library and King's Cross station. The Kentish Town tube station, just one stop down the line from Tufnell Park, connects to National Rail services while a walk in the other direction gets you to the Gospel Oak stop of the Overland and thence to Kew Gardens and the National Archive. Beyond all of the flat’s attractions, Rea is the kindest, most gracious and thoughtful “land-lady” one could ever hope to have. Good Martha Rust 1/23/2020 7:52:00 AM
