About Me
I am a retired art history and European history professor and my wife is a professional violinist. I studied theology and philosophy in Belgian, then art history and history in Geneva Switzerland and London. We have three children and seven grandchildren. We have lived in Berkeley California from 1983 to 2001. We live now in Fiesole,on the hill above Florence and renovated an old house surrounded by olive trees. I am actually working on a book on modern art around 1900.

This was a magical place nestled above a glorious hilltop. You have plenty of space and quiet for your work. It is in the countryside but you have all the modern conveniences. Brigitte's family is heartwarming and kind. Overall, I was enchanted. It was one of the nicest experiences in my life. Thank you Brigitte and Piero!

Some notes on the rental: I think it is best to have a car not only to get to the house but also to explore the surrounding area. And for the mosquito haters, Tuscany does have them in the warmer months...
