Who Are We?

For scholars by scholars.

When she created SabbaticalHomes.com in 2000, founder Nadege Conger envisioned the website as a way for scholars to connect, arrange affordable housing and find trustworthy tenants. Today, SabbaticalHomes.com is still run by the founder and a creative team of hard-working, enthusiastic and diverse individuals.

This thriving hub of home and tenant listings is a unique resource with a trusted community. As the leading international directory for academic home rentals, home exchanges, house sitting, and home sharing opportunities, SabbaticalHomes makes it possible for Minds on the Move to live, work and stay all over the world. Most home listings are available furnished to ease the transition of relocating, going on leave or traveling. Search our website to find the perfect home or tenant!

the impact of COVID

Was contacted by a Professor @UWSeattle on behalf of Professor colleague from Bangladesh visiting Seattle on Fulbright Grant. COVID Pandemic caused changes in visiting Prof’s & his family’s initial housing, so they stayed in my home a month when I was out of town until other rental arrangement secured. Only met my guests via FaceTime, but they provided excellent references, including UW Faculty rental hosts of previous 3 months. My close neighbor friends helped this visiting Bangladesh family with IT & moving concerns during my absence. We all continue to connect (safely) during the duration of this visiting family’s stay in Seattle. Am looking forward to their tasty Indian cooking, which my neighbor friends got to try in their few meal exchanges. This SabbaticalHomes.com experience has been unique, given the impact of COVID, the issues that arose for my guests during my absence that were addressed/resolved by my dear neighbor friends, and the continued contact with the Professor & family during the remainder of their stay in Seattle.
