We entirely gutted and renovated this apartment six years ago, with brand new interior walls, new bathroom, new kitchen, new floors, new appliances, etc. The apartment is spacious (600 sq ft) and modern, with an open floor plan, hardwood floors, large windows, and a decorative fireplace. The bedroom has a walk-in closet and a small desk. We recently cut a large number of trees blocking the view (you might notice some of the older pictures of the apartment have no view). Now, there is a clear view of San Francisco and a lot more sunshine! It's fully furnished. Very comfortable high quality queen bed, L-shaped couch, washer dryer (private), full kitchen (including a dishwasher/garbage disposal), wifi, a projector and screen (to watch tv / movies from your computer), all utilities paid. We recently updated some of the furniture (including a new couch) so you might notice there is an older dark grey couch in the pictures - that has been replaced). In general, we try to buy everything people need, so at this point is it pretty well stocked (coffee maker, nespresso maker, blender, etc.) It's on the lower level of a three level mid-century modern home. To reach the private entrance, you go down two flights of stairs, then up one flight to reach the door. There is a backyard area another level down from the apartment with a play structure for our kids, but we still will likely rarely see you! The house is on the hill above the Claremont hotel. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. Many UC Berkeley professors live nearby. It's an easy 10 min bike ride or 25 min walk to campus. A 5 min walk to one of the best bakeries in the east bay (Fournée Bakery), Peet's coffee, cocktails with an amazing view at the Claremont, and a couple of restaurants (it’s on a hill so the way down is much faster than the way up). A 10-15 min walk to Rockridge and Elmwood neighborhoods, 25 minute drive into San Francisco. 1.5 miles to the Rockridge BART (subway system). Very close to a lot of nice mountain biking trails, and people like to road bike up our hill to Grizzly Peak Rd to see the beautiful views of the bay bridge and San Francisco, especially at sunset. Perfect for one person or a couple - no pets and not child friendly. No smoking, no burning incense or similar intense smells. Our neighborhood is very quiet, so someone who values and respects tranquility would be ideal. Some of our living space is above the unit, but we try to be conscientious about noise and none of our previous tenants has complained. We put in the thickest sound proofing insulation that we could between the unit and the middle floor, which seems to work well. However, there are some times when you might hear us - particularly, between around 5:30-8:00pm on most weeknights and a few hours on weekends, we hang around the middle flour with our kids (4 and 7). Bedtime is 8, after which the kids are on the top floor. Additionally, we eat with them around 7:30am in the morning on the middle floor, but in an area not above the lower floor, so it is likely quiet. Most other times, we are either on the top floor or away (work/daycare during the week, out and about on weekends). Deposit includes last month’s rent and security deposit. Available in May 2022. Long stays strongly preferred. ___________ COVID: The apartment is completely self-contained with its own entrance, etc. so there are no worries about contact. The apartment will be empty for at least 3 days prior to your arrival and we will pay to have it professionally deep cleaned. __________
