Our spacious loft is located in the former Sears & Roebuck Department Store and Warehouse, which was built in 1928. In 2005 the art deco building (which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places) was converted to a combination of lofts, apartments, and a market on the ground floor, The building is also connected to Abbott Northwestern Hospital & Alina Commons, Our unit is on the 12th floor with panoramic views of the Minneapolis cityscape. The sunsets are breathtaking! The loft has 14 foot ceilings! Two bedrooms (one used as a study); two full bathrooms (one within the master bedroom with a big shower; the other with a deep soaking tub). We have a wrap around terrace. Dine with views of the city, fireworks, and sunsets. Watch dramatic midwestern summer storms roll in! The kitchen is fully outfitted. There is a bar that seats four plus a dining table that can expand to seat 12. The open floor plan also includes a living room and a (second) study space with extraordinary views. The Midtown Global Market on the ground floor offers a range of restaurants (Vietnamese, Indian, Venezuelan, Somali, Morocco, burger joints, soul food), deli and grocery stores, and a brewery, all owned by local residents. There is often live music in the evenings and salsa lessons on Sundays. Ice cream at La Michoacana down the street is a neighborhood treasure. To work that off, you can take daily walks around the lake at Powderhorn Park. Or cycle on the Midtown Greenway with an entrance right below the building. In one direction you can reach the Mississippi River; in the other you can hit the lakes, where you can swim, sail, canoe, kayak, or hang a hammock in the trees and read. This is a unique community and an extraordinarily beautiful space for contemplative work.
