The North Berkeley Hills Homestay is a beautiful 3-bdrm, 2-ba home in a wonderful neighborhood in the Berkeley hills. Guests enjoy the serenity, art collection, and proximity to nature, culture, and everything the Bay Area has to offer. Guests from more than 25 countries have enjoyed serene stays here since 2000. Perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood close to transit, shopping, restaurants, UC Berkeley, and nature! You're welcome whether you're here to visit Cal (just 2 miles away), connect with family or friends, look for a place to live, take classes, or seek respite from chemically toxic environments. Many guests with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and environmental illness (EI) find a safe and healthy refuge here. We provide high-quality fragrance-free soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shaving cream, and after-shave for guests without their own. There is free high-speed WiFi available throughout the house and guests are welcome to use the well-equipped kitchen for their meal preparation. The Asia Suite is a beautiful, spacious room with an en suite bath. It has a very supportive queen bed guests always rave about. Other furnishings include a Danish modern rocker and a bamboo cafe table with two chairs. The Library is a warm, cozy room filled with travel books and fun art from around the world. Guests sleep on a wonderful and supportive queen bed from the renowned McRoskey Mattress Co, which has been handcrafting beds in San Francisco since 1899. For guests staying two months or longer, this room can be reconfigured (without the bed) as a study or an office. The Treehouse is a charming, peaceful room that looks out on beautiful borrowed landscape and the glorious backyard. The large windows let in abundant light while protecting your privacy. Guests sleep soundly on a European Sleepworks mattress. The Asia Suite and Library are available for rent prior to and after the dates listed for the whole house, at a lower cost, while sharing the public rooms with the homeowner. For guests staying 2+ months, the Library can be converted into a study rather than a second bedroom. Please reach out if this is of interest. Though the neighborhood feels surprisingly peaceful in the lively Bay Area — deer are frequently seen "pruning" local gardens! — we're just a short walk from charming Kensington Village, where you'll find a shop specializing in cheese, crackers, and chocolate, a wine shop, restaurant, grocery store, ATM machine, café, and public transportation. In addition to the 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, you'll have access to a gorgeous eat-in kitchen, lovely living room/dining room, back deck, and garden. Anything in the organic garden that's ready for harvesting while you're here is yours to enjoy! We host honey bee hives in the far back of the property, which are looked after by our beekeeper (who texts the day before his occasional visits); both bees and their keeper typically keep to themselves. We've been hosting at this location since 2002, so the house is designed to be completely turn-key for guests. A comprehensive binder details everything you may want to know (and more!). We look forward to helping you feel at home while you're in the Bay Area. This rental is for a single/extended family. The $7500 deposit is fully refundable, barring damage or loss. We request references and will run a credit check before signing a lease agreement.
