Family Friendly Home in Allandale

Description

We are a family of four who loves to travel. We will be taking a year abroad during the 2023-2024 school year, returning mid-July 2024. We have a yellow lab, who will be staying with family and friends, so pets are welcome. Our 1964 home has four bedrooms, two baths, a large living/kitchen/dining area, and a family room with fireplace. Most of the home has been fully updated. The bathrooms have some original charm, although they have had some updates as well. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with small walk-in closet. The two front bedrooms have twin beds, one is a bunk bed and the other has a pull-out trundle bed. The 4th bedroom has a queen sized murphy bed that pulls down when needed, but is mostly kept up to allow for extra space. This room has a small work area and full-sized keyboard for any piano players. All rooms offer loads of natural light, which is arguably our favorite feature of the home. The large screened-in porch is not included in the 2,000 square feet of the home and offers an additional living and dining area. Under our large red oak tree is a playhouse and two swings that are fun for children. A shed in the backyard and two-car garage also offer additional storage space. The washer/dryer are located in the garage. As with any older home, ours has some quirks and aspects that are reminiscent of the 1960's. On a daily basis, our home functions smoothly. Allandale is a lovely, tree-filled community about 5 miles north of UT Austin, and 7 miles north of downtown. The streets around us have sidewalks and dedicated bike lanes. If you have a furry friend, an off-leash dog park is located one block away. 31 acre Northwest Park is a short walk away. Amenities include baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, a pool, rentable picnic spaces, a duck pond, and trails along Shoal Creek. All your needs can be accessed on bike, including great restaurants, grocery stores, and schools. If you would like to venture further, you can bike the Shoal Creek Greenbelt, which takes you directly downtown in under 7 miles. Gullett Elementary is a 1/2 mile walk or bike ride away, and is a sweet public elementary school. Austin Montessori School for children ages 3- 9 is one block away. Both of our children attended AMS, and we cannot say enough good things! Lamar Middle School is 1 mile away, and McCallum High School is 2.2 miles away. The house comes furnished and our personal items are stored, so only the large pieces of furniture will remain. It is our hope that we can find renters who enjoy our home as much as we do, and help maintain it accordingly.
