Cheerful, Central, and Convenient to Everything

Our house is a classic 1910's Oakland home -- living room/dining room/kitchen down one side, bedroom/bathroom/bedroom down the other, with a nice-sized addition in the back. The addition has a large main bedroom and an en-suite bathroom. There are original hardwood floors in the main part of the house, with other charming period touches like crown moulding and built-in cabinetry in the dining room. The kitchen is modern and exceptionally well stocked (we love to cook and bake), with filtered water, an instant-hot faucet, a slow cooker, an Instant Pot, a giant wok, and on and on. The bathrooms are especially large for a house built in this era, with all the amenities. **Note: The main bedroom has a king bed, the second has a queen, and the third can have either a queen or two twins. Or if you'd prefer to have two bedrooms and an office, we can easily accommodate you. The office will have a sitting/standing desk with a chair as well as a treadmill, so you can walk while you work. I love decor, and as you can see in the photos, I'm a fan of color. :) My husband and I find our house cheerful and welcoming, and we've heard the same from guests. We also love comfort, so the couch is delightfully cushy (though firm enough for support) and the beds have memory foam toppers. Also, there's a large balcony off the main bedroom, where you can sit and enjoy coffee or tea. The back yard also has a hot tub (Jacuzzi), which is shared with a long-term tenant who lives in another unit. Our house/street is at the nexus of Berkeley, Oakland, and Emeryville, which we find to be wonderfully convenient. We're a 10-minute walk from the Ashby BART subway station, from where you can zip into San Francisco (20 minutes). And we're half a block from a bus stop on a line that takes you directly to downtown Berkeley (and UC Berkeley) in one direction and downtown Oakland in the other. Of course, you can hop onto a bike or electric scooter and get to either of those places in minutes. Same with driving. And if you like to walk, you're in luck. We're a 15-minute walk to Whole Foods as well as the Berkeley Bowl, our legendary independent grocery store (with the largest produce section under one roof in California!). UC Berkeley is a 30-minute walk, and Rockridge (an upscale area with stores and restaurants) is 20.
