This charming and bohemian San Francisco flat is centrally located on Russian Hill, the upper of two units in an historic house on lovely Macondray Lane. Coming down the Lane can feel quite magical, as it is vibrant green with abundant gardens and a brick and cobblestone walkway. Note: The Lane is walking only; no cars. The flat comprises a tower bedroom and a small den with a bed, along with a lovely living room, a well-stocked kitchen, a sunlit breakfast room, and a formal dining room. It has one bathroom with a tub and shower and closet space. One feels in the country rather than the city; the noise of the streets and urban sounds are muffled in this sequestered lane. The house, built in the late 1890s, has a warm charm that includes lovely, comfortable furniture and decor. The living room and the tower bedroom—with its attached roof garden—have spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay.. (There isn't a bathroom connected to the master bedroom.) The roof garden provides a charming place for morning coffee or afternoon wine at a wrought iron table and chairs; there's also a gas grill for entertaining. The view from the deck, like the one from the living room, takes in an expanse from the Golden Gate to the Bay Bridge, including Angel Island, Alcatraz, North Beach, and Coit Tower. It's a great place to enjoy fireworks celebrating Fourth of July and the turning of the New Year. The kitchen is well outfitted (those who like to cook will find they are well provided for), including a Wolf stove and a dishwasher, as well as the usual coffee maker, blender, and other kitchen amenities. The tower bedroom, up a short flight of stairs from the living room/kitchen/bathroom has plenty of closet space; the level of the bed has been elevated to be in line with the window so one merely needs to turn one's head to take in the spectacular view. The second room is a small den with a daybed/trundle that sleeps one comfortably, two in a pinch (and briefly.) This room does not have a closet.
