Description

I am an art historian, my partner is an editor/writer, and we have a six year old boy. We both work in contemporary art and so our apartment skews colorful and arty. We're going to Europe over the summer and are looking for a quiet, clean tenant (or couple) to take over the apartment while we're away. Everything in the 1200 sq ft apartment is pretty new as we bought it gut renovated in 2020. The kitchen includes: stove, microwave, dishwasher, wafflemaker, toaster. There are two A/C units: a large one for the kitchen/dining/living area, and a small one in the main bedroom. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms and in the office, plus a portable fan. The en suite bathroom has a shower, the second bathroom has a bath and shower. There is a washing machine, a dryer, and a drying rack. The office has a printer, and an electronic piano keyboard. Public transit: the 1 train is half a block away (connecting to the 2/3 express at 96th St, two stops away); the B/C is three blocks away. The area is well-served for buses to Laguardia Airport, museums on Fifth Avenue, and up to Riverbank State Park (for two swimming pools). There are tennis courts nearby in Riverside and Central Park. There is no balcony or outdoor space, but the area has a wealth of nearby parks (Riverside Park, Morningside Park, Central Park, and Cathedral Gardens). There are two supermarkets on the corner, one that specializes in Asian products, and the other open 24 hours. Within four blocks are two pharmacies, an academic bookstore, numerous restaurants, a lending branch of NYPL, and the post office. There's a farmer's market at Columbia (on Thursdays and Sundays) and at Morningside (on Saturdays). The neighbourhood combines turn-of-the-century grandeur (our street is part of Morningside Heights Historic District) and local flavour: around the corner on Amsterdam Avenue is the legendary Hungarian Pastry Shop, the West 111th St People's Garden, and the Cathedral of St John the Divine, which has beautiful gardens open to the public at weekends. We think our building is a quiet gem with lots of sun and great views! Please don't hesitate to email if you have any questions or would like to negotiate the price or dates.
