Two-story, two-bedroom, 2-1/2-bath, fully furnished home on Capitol Hill in DC. Available January, 2025. Flexible on start and end dates, give or take a day or two. Minimum stay is 10 weeks. Walk four blocks north to the Capitol Building, the Library of Congress and the National Mall--and all the restaurants, bars and shops along Pennsylvania Avenue. Walk three blocks north to the Capitol South Metro station. Walk five blocks east to the Eastern Market Metro. Walk five blocks south to the Navy Yard/Nationals Park Metro and all the new restaurants, bars and riverfront activities near the ballpark. Our newly remodeled corner townhouse has more than 28 windows, two large bedrooms and 24 feet of hallway closet space; two and a half bathrooms; and a new, modern kitchen with granite counter-tops. Our home was selected to be part of the Spring 2014 and 2020 Capitol Hill House and Garden Tour. On main floor, front door opens into large dining room with custom-built oak staircase and eight large windows. Hidden behind a wall full of paintings is a full bath with shower. Dining room flows into kitchen, in the center of the first floor, with two large windows looking out onto the neighborhood and all the foot traffic--parents with children, neighbors with dogs. Kitchen flows into living room with three large windows and glass door onto first level of Victorian-style double-level porch perfect for enjoying summer meals, the garden and the welcoming neighborhood. Below the first floor is an occupied English-basement apartment with its own private entrance. The second-floor master bedroom opens out onto screened porch that looks down Duddington Place. Master bath has large shower and two sinks in front of two large windows with cellular shades. The dome of the Capitol can be seen from second floor windows and porch. Washer/dryer in hallway between two bedrooms. On second floor is half bath next to front bedroom/study where you will find computer workstation and full-size bed that folds into a handsome Murphy-bed frame. This room, the largest on this floor, has seven windows and views of two public parks. Rent includes all bed linens, all towels in the bathrooms; a complete kitchen with lots of new cabinet space, wall oven, cooking range-top, refrigerator, microwave, all dishes, pots and pans, etc.; all utilities, wireless Internet, local land-line telephone and cable TV; plus once-a-month maid service. No pets. No smoking indoors. There are two outdoor porches where smoking is permitted. One car permit available for guest short-term street parking. Lease agreement will serve as proof of temporary residency so tenant can apply and pay for a long-term Zone 6 DC residential parking permit. We rarely have trouble finding a place to park on the streets near our home. Because we live at the corner of two one-way streets--Duddington Place and Second Street, S.E. --there is very little traffic by our home, even though we are only a few blocks from Pennsylvania Avenue. Two parks and two private gyms are a block in either direction. Capitol Hill’s famous Eastern Market is only five blocks away—a pleasant walk past many restaurants, the post office, small mom&pop shops and several corner grocery/convenience stores. Five large grocery stores within a few minutes drive; two within walking distance. Four popular Bikeshare stations are within a few blocks of our home, with more than 400 stations throughout the city. We no longer own bikes: we use the inexpensive Bikeshare program to bike to the drug store, swimming pool, grocery store, museums, movie theaters downtown, etc.
