My husband and I are professors of literature at Bucknell University and we will be on sabbatical for the academic year 2022-23. Our house is a newly renovated four bedroom Victorian home on the banks of the Susquehanna River in the charming town of Lewisburg. Our porch has a fabulous view of the river (the photo here is taken from our porch with a swing) , and the back garden is large, fenced-in, and is filled with fresh herbs, flowers, and Magnolia blossoms in the spring. The backyard patio offers a full sitting area for dining and lounging by the firepit, or chilling under the umbrella. We are a short walk by the river into campus with all its amenities, and a block away from the historical town center with its shops and restaurants -- as well as a stellar 1940s, single screen cinema offering first run and art house movies. It is a very safe, livable town with a huge playground for young children a quick walk from our house, a public pool, a rails-to-trails hiking path, and plenty of regional sites. A car would be recommended (which we could provide) and we are approximately three hours by car from New York, Philadelphia and Washington. We love to cook with our two children (now in University) so the kitchen is well-appointed with a gas range, large pantry, and all the equipment you could desire. We also have a charcoal grill in the back garden for picnics and sunny days. Located in the heart of Amish Country, there is plenty to do and see while enjoying the natural beauty of the Susquehanna Valley.

I would like to bring my pet if it is okay
I prefer smoking not allowed in the home
I would like a car if possible
Comments: We have a small dog we can leave behind, but would consider bringing with us. We would be happy to have access to a car, but this is not crucial by any means. I have mild seasonal allergies.
