Saint-Herblain, Pays de la Loire, France
Preferred Destination: Berkeley, California, United States
Our house mixes the history of Nantes and modernity, by coupling a style from the 60s with a modern wooden extension. It is a cosy and comfortable family house for at least 5 people, suitable for young kids and teenagers — our boys are 15, 13 and 7 years old and the rooms are full of toys and games. The house was built in the 1960s, in a popular quarter near Nantes. We have a beautiful garden with a wooden deck where you can enjoy the fresh autumn evenings using a brasero. The living room has a large area: 55 m2, including an open kitchen (10 m2) and a veranda (20 m2), open to the garden. At the 2nd floor, there is one bathroom, 2 bedrooms (one single bed in each) and a little living room with books and sofa (2 people). The wooden extension has 2 bedrooms (double bed in each) and one bathroom. The house is located at less than 2.5 miles from the Nantes city centre. Nantes has plenty of cultural activities: Machines de Nantes (https://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/en/) with the amazing Great Elephant and the wonderful Carrousel of the Marine Worlds; the Extraordinary Garden (https://www.nantes-tourisme.com/en/park-and-garden/extraordinary-garden) and other exhibitions you could discover along the fantastic “Nantes, the endless journey” (https://www.nantes-tourisme.com/en/le-voyage-nantes-0). From Nantes, it is easy to reach Paris (2 hours by train), or the beautiful beach of La Baule (1 hour by car or train). You could also reach famous regions: on the North, the Brittany and its pink granite coast (3 hours by car) or the Carnac stones (1h30 by car); on the South, the Landes with its long beaches or the Pilat dune (4 hours by car). For these trips, you can use our car, a Renault Senic 7 seats (diesel fuel).

We have two aquariums in the house. Sometimes you have to feed the fish!
The garden is not very big, but needs a little attention (watering and pruning when necessary).
High Speed Internet
Comments: Temperature control in autumn and winter is provided by a pellet stove in the main house. It is provided by electric heaters with heat transfer fluid in the wooden extension
Berkeley, California, United States
I need a home suitable for young kids
I prefer smoking not allowed in the home
I would like a car if possible
Comments: We will need a car to visit California (and maybe beyond) during our stay. Having a car available to us would prevent having to rent one. However, it should be also used daily, if the house is far from UC Berkeley and the shops.
