Built around 1840 with gothic windows and curved staircases this quaint, story and half cottage overlooks Cornings (aka Indian) Brook and the saw mill also built by Abijah Ellis around the same time. Sharing this contemplative, tranquil view are the kitchen, new in 2002, and the rear deck, as well as the newly remodeled Den and SW bedroom. The N. bedroom is also newly remodeled and features a private stairway to the kitchen. The master bedroom features three gothic windows and some minor preparations for future upgrading. The bath, installed in 1959, and living room are also newly upgraded. Lending charm and majesty are the curved central stairway and gothic-windowed, landing halls. Fifty acres of forest, wetland and old orchards, largely adjacent to the brook and swimming hole, have been fallow more than 50 years and harbor dreams of food foraging, food-forestry and permaculture. Suggested donations are $450 to $1750 per month depending on season and number of guests. Twenty-seven minutes to Universite' Sainte-Anne. Twenty-four minutes to Burridge Nova Scotia Community College. Fifty-six minutes to Kings Theater in Annapolis Royal. Four miles away on the shore is a very nice diner for breakfast and lunch and DJ's Convenience store. Nearby are two of the best beaches in Southwest Nova Scotia. Yarmouth is easily accessible from Portland, Maine by ferry. Halifax Stanfield International Airport is 2 hrs. 59 min. by daily shuttle.
