Greenbelt, Maryland, United States
Our 2,400 sq.ft. 3-level, 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom single-family house has a solid wood frame and concrete block construction, is located in historic Greenbelt, Maryland, backs to a wooded walking path to Buddy Attick Lake and Greenbelt Elementary School, and has excellent access to Greenbelt Metro Station for destinations in Washington DC (35 minute train ride), NASA, USDA and University of Maryland - College Park (free bus). Street level entrance with private parking, foyer with closet and living room, a fantastic back porch overlooking an forested back yard with shed, kitchen with full-range of appliances (dishwasher, refrigerator, electric stove/oven), adjacent dining room with large sliding doors; shaded rock patio and garden; an attractive staircase with skylight leads both upstairs to four bedrooms and two bathrooms (master bedroom en suite) and downstairs to a large playroom/tv room with storage closet, full bathroom, and large laundry room with additional storage shelving and washer/dryer. There are hardwood floors throughout, additional refrigerator in the basement, windows and ceiling fans in all bedrooms, living room and kitchen, as well as central heating and A/C on an adjustable thermostat. Old Greenbelt has a wonderful community 'small town' feel; from the house it's a 10-minute walk to the Roosevelt Center, the historic shopping center that still thrives with a co-op supermarket, movie theater, barber, hair/nail salon, makerspace club, Chinese restaurant, convenience store, Cedars of Lebanon restaurant, and of course the New Deal Cafe (vegan food and funky music venue). Adjacent to the Center are the public library, Fitness Center with indoor and outdoor pool, Community Center with art studios, classes, aerobics in the gym and nursery school. There is also Greenbelt Lake park, with a nice walking/bike path, playgrounds, picnic tables, etc. Greenbelt also is bordered by the USDA Agricultural Research Station and by the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge, both of which form a tract of undeveloped farmland and woods of many thousands of acres -- complete with country roads for excellent bicycling. Driving, you are very connected because Greenbelt lies at the intersection of the Capital Beltway (I-95) and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (295). You are northeast of Washington DC, only about 7 miles from the U.S. Capitol. Public transport is a great option in Greenbelt, and we have two buses (Metro's G12 and the Prince George's County #11 Bus) that pass our home every 15 minutes and provide fast service to the Greenbelt Metro station (1.5 miles away). In addition the UM free shuttle bus provides free access to nearby campus. There are even wonderful bike trails that lead downtown!
