Beautiful and spacious studio in a unique London townhouse. A piece of history in trendy Bermondsey, the building dates back to the 1780s. Ideally located for the City, West End and Canary Wharf, it makes a great pied-à-terre for anyone visiting, working or studying in London. THE ACCOMMODATION This is a wonderfully light, large, clean and comfortable studio (40m2/430sq.ft) on the first floor (US 2nd floor) with a view over the garden. You just share the front door to the house, the stairs and laundry room, so are totally independent. Completely refurbished, but at the same time retaining the original period features, the studio accommodates one person comfortably. The rent of £1150 per month is equivalent to about £265 per week and includes all bills (electricity, gas, council tax, water, wifi, TV licence) as well as fortnightly cleaning. Bed linen and towels are provided. The super-king bed from the famous furniture store, Heal's, should give you a fantastic night's sleep. The studio is offered as a long-term let (90+ days) to one person, but you are welcome to have a friend or family member to stay now and again as long as I am given some prior notice. The super-king bed can be made up as twins, if necessary. Original wooden floorboards and the large bay window give a cosy but light and spacious feel. The bathroom is huge and is equipped with an extra-large walk-in shower and a beautiful freestanding bath as well as a handy heated towel rail. There is also a rail with plenty of hangers for your clothes. You have your own kettle, toaster, microwave oven which is also a traditional oven (please note that there is no hob but there is a plug-in rice steamer available), small sink and full-sized fridge. There is a TV and you also have unlimited free WIFI access. You'll find a hair dryer and extra blankets in the large chest of drawers. The central heating will keep you cosy, and in hot weather I provide fans. A washing machine, iron and ironing board can be found in the utility room off the half-landing (I'll show you). There is no tumble-dryer but I can provide airers for hanging your washing on. I live at the same address and so although you are totally independent, I’m on hand if any problems arise and am happy to help with any questions about the local area and London in general. N.B. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property including the porch and garden. THE AREA Bermondsey is a great place to live and work and is very central. The house is a 15 minute walk from the River Thames and Tower Bridge and 5 minutes from historic Bermondsey Street and its famous coffee shops, restaurants and galleries. The area is renowned for its Saturday food markets and Friday morning antiques market. Borough Market, Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre are also within walking distance. There are plenty of convenience stores and supermarkets close by which are open 7/7. The park across the road has a circular running track for anyone wanting to stay fit! GETTING AROUND Buses stop on the street by the house every few minutes: The Number 1 takes you to the West End and its theatres and shops in 20 - 30 minutes. It also runs every 30 minutes throughout the night. The 78 goes to super-trendy Shoreditch and London's main business quarter, the City, via Tower Bridge (10 minutes) and Liverpool Street station (20 minutes). Bermondsey station is on the Jubilee line and is a 10 minute walk from the house meaning you can reach most places in central London in 30 - 40 minutes door-to-door. London Bridge mainline and tube station is 15 minutes walk.
