Bedford-Stuyvesant, New York, United States
Large duplex garden apartment in Brooklyn’s charming Clinton Hill neighborhood. 1900 square feet. Two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, generous living room, separate dining room, plus a nursery that can easily be used as a third bedroom. Fully furnished and decorated by two world-travelers, an activist and an academic/designer. It’s a ground floor apartment in a four-story building with two other units, newly constructed (2015) with all modern conveniences — large refrigerator, dishwasher, washer-dryer, oven. On the ground floor, you enter (at grade) into a large open living room and attached kitchen. The kitchen has ample counter space; it’s fit for passionate cooks. A large flatscreen TV is flanked by books in a midcentury modern shelving unit with fold out bar. Past the living room is one of the full bathrooms, the master bedroom (with ample closet space) and a separate dining room that leads to the large, decked outdoor space. In the backyard, feel free to use our smoker or to tend and use our herb garden (or just leave the plants alone and enjoy the flowering bushes!) On the lower level you will find a large, open-plan room (~800 square feet) with a double bed and a comfy twin-convertible couch. High ceilings enhance the roomy feel with the natural light flowing in from a lightwell that also serves as a second, more intimate outdoor space. This level has its own full bathroom, two desks that can be used as home offices, and a separate nursery that can be used as a third bedroom, plus more books. Our block is a diverse collection of handsome brownstones and social housing across the street with several lovely playgrounds. We are two blocks from two colleges, the Pratt Institute and St Josephs College. Very close to a number of good bars and restaurants on Franklin, Bedford, and Grand. Less than a mile to the west is bustling Fort Green with its famous park and even more delicious restaurants and nightlife. To the east is historic Bed-Stuy, and north is Williamsburg. We’re less than a block from the G train, a ten minute walk from the C train, which makes all of lower Manhattan and most of Brooklyn and Queens accessible within a half hour subway ride.
