Lagos, LA, Nigeria
This is a spacious, gorgeous, vintage, tropical modernist, top-floor flat in Yaba, Lagos. There is one bedroom available, it is en-suite with its own bathroom. This is a three bedroom flat filled with artists, academics and luminaries. There's an incredible library and decent art collection. There is a fourth bedroom that serves as an office; a spacious living room, a wide, gorgeous balcony with a garden and a distant view of the lagoon. It is very close to UNILAG, the Center for Contemporary Art, the railway compound, and the Yaba tech hubs. It is the closest neighborhood to the islands that is on the mainland, so it takes 15 minutes if there's no traffic. The street is a cul-de-sac so it is quiet for the neighborhood. The building is owned by a local king and is full of young, middle class families--professors, civil servants, etc. so security is good. There is a gate man and the street is also guarded with gates at night. There is an inverter so there is mostly 24 hour light and a back up drum for any water shortages. There are fans, but no AC. It is a slightly rustic feel, the floor tilts, but it is intentionally grounded in Lagosian history and architecture and it's a very special home. It is a sanctuary in the bustle of the city and a space for expansive thinking, dreaming, grounding, and rest. It's been home to so many lovely thinkers over the years. You are blessed as you enter.
