El Cerrito, California, United States
We are looking to rent our beloved home from early/mid August 2021 through July 2022 while we will be in Paris on a research fellowship. Our home is very private, sitting up away from the street in El Cerrito/Kensington hills. It is surrounded by greenery and views of the SF Bay from every window. Dramatic sunsets, bird song, mature fruit trees, garden-setting and ideal for families with children (we have 3!). House: The house is spacious (2100 sq.ft.) and welcoming, with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bath: Master bedroom with queen bed, sitting area, and balcony with flowers. Guest bedroom with full bed and desk. Children's bedroom with two twin beds and a toddler bed. Comfortable office with two large desks (one adjustable to standing), lined with books. The living room is large and has views of the SF Bay (both bridges) from where we see daily dramatic sunsets or watch the fog roll in. Giant oak and view of green field outside of the dining room window. Dining room opens onto deck and back garden with redwood, pine trees and roses. Warm and large kitchen with convenient pantry. We have mostly non-toxic furniture and all organic mattresses, and many toys for the children (should you want to use them). Garden: Down in front of the house is a large garden with mature fruit trees (endless lemon, apples, pears, plums) and children's swing and climbing structure. There is also a garden in the back of the house, with an outdoor dining table and children's sandbox. Neighborhood: Walk up the hill to beautiful and serene Blake Garden or down to famed El Cerrito Natural Grocery and Prepared food Annex (local organic flowers, pastries, coffee, and food). Trader Joes and many stores located in near-by El Cerrito Plaza shopping center. Possible to walk down to BART station (El Cerrito Plaza). Short drive away from Tilden Park, with favorites like Little Farm and hiking trails. We regularly bike to Kensington Farmers' Market on Sundays at Colusa Circle, shops and cafes on Solano ave and UC Berkeley campus by dropping down to the bike path. Zoned for Kensington Hilltop Elementary School, or close to area private schools (happy to share recommendations). Optional: we have a sweet 8-year-old cat, Nena. We plan to leave her with family in the area, but would be very happy if tenants would be willing to keep her at home.
