Berkeley, California, United States
Spacious and sunny family home with a Berkeley "vibe". Built in 1906 and raised to three stories (and updated) in 2006, the house gets lots of light and sits among flowers, gardens, and parks. Enjoy meals in the evening sun on the deck while kids play in the yard. Walk to UC Berkeley and fine restaurants. Easy access to "Bicycle Boulevards", BART (metro), and express bus lines. Quiet, safe residential street, blocks from UC Berkeley and Downtown. Overlooks charming neighborhood Tot Park for small children. The house can accommodate both family and work. On the top floor, two large, bright, and airy bedrooms share a full bathroom. One room has views of the Berkeley hills and the other of sunsets. The master bedroom has a premium queen-size mattress and deep closets. On the middle floor, the sunny and spacious living room and dining room connect to form 33 m2 of dynamic family living space. With its gas cookstove, modern appliances, and double sink, overlooking the park and garden, the 15 m2 kitchen is a delight to cook and gather in. And when the weather is just too nice to be inside, the deck outside the dining room is perfect for barbecues and al fresco dining. Also on the middle floor, the laundry room has a large washer/dryer set and room for sorting clothes and storing linens, and a convenient half-bath with toilet and sink. The bottom floor includes two more bedrooms and a shared full bathroom (with bathtub/shower). One smaller bedroom is 9 m2 and has a loft bed/desk combination. The other bedroom is large (16 m2), with a double bed, large closet, and has an outside door, opening onto the covered back porch and backyard. Overlooking the front garden on the ground floor is a 15 m2 office space with an ergonomic work station and couch with fold-away bed. Lastly on the bottom floor, the large entryway keeps shoes, coats, and bags from cluttering the house. High-speed WiFi throughout the house, new Samsung home theater, vintage stereo, Nest thermostat. The private fenced backyard has nearly 200 m2 of grassy area with plenty of sun and shade, Three raised garden beds already planted with vegetables, and productive fruit trees (apple, loquat, and avocado bear in the summer and autumn, oranges in the spring, and lemons year round). Activities for kids of all ages including a large Springfree trampoline (the safest kind, hours of fun) and a private treehouse reading nook. The detached garage will be used mostly for storage of our household goods, but may be available for additional storage and access to tools and workbench. We have covered bike parking in our gated (locked) side yard, and a parking in our driveway for one car. We would like to leave the house as furnished as possible, but we are happy to work with you to add or remove pieces and accommodate your family needs.
