Description

I share this apartment with an excellent roommate. Now that I am going away on sabbatical for one year, my room (advertised here) is available to sublease. I am looking for a renter who takes care of the room and apartment, keeps it clean and tidy, maintains a quiet environment, communicates with clarity, and is considerate, honest and cordial (compatible with my roommate, who shares these qualities and will continue living in the apartment during the year I am away). The kitchen, bathroom and living/dining room are shared. This is a quiet apartment day and night. The setup guarantees plenty of privacy. The available room is on one end of the apartment and my roommate's room is on the opposite end, separated by the common areas. One roommate does not hear the other from his/her room. The room has plenty of natural light and is equipped with a desk. It is a very pleasant space for writing, reading and otherwise working from home. In good weather, one could work or hang out in the outdoor area adjacent to the apartment. The midcentury design sofa bed is new. Open into a bed, it's firm, comfortable and a bit larger than a full-size bed. A renter wanting to install an actual bed could reconfigure the room: moving the sofa and desk around, there is a space for a twin or full bed (but not for a queen or king bed). The room comes with a small wall closet and a chest of drawers. This should be enough storage space for one person. The kitchen, though small, is well equipped with all the standard things, including an Instant Pot and an espresso machine. Great neighborhood! The apartment is on a beautiful street. Everything that downtown Northampton has to offer is a very short walk away (restaurants, coffee shops, bars, music venues, shops, pharmacies, the Amtrak station). Smith College is steps away, literally. The stop for the buses to UMass, Amherst College and Mount Holyoke College is one block away. Several bike paths are close by as well. I'd highlight the convenience of having a small grocery store across the street where one can get almost everything, from pantry staples to fresh local produce to a great selection of wines. Laundry: Coin-operated washers and dryers are conveniently located on the same floor as the apartment. Parking: There is free street parking on designated streets nearby (the closest is one block away). Smith College parking, steps away on the same block, is available to anyone with a Smith College affiliation. In your response: - Please describe yourself and your needs/attributes/lifestyle as a roommate. - Address your source of income and ability to pay rent on time. - Indicate how often you expect visitors. - Let me know what questions you have. Thanks in advance for your interest.
