Brookline, Massachusetts, United States
Fully furnished, duplex condo in a 3 unit 1900 brownstone. When I am not traveling, this is my home and I've collected many paintings, ceramics and tapestries over the years which are here for you to enjoy during your stay. There are many restaurants and cultural activities nearby. Trader Joe's and Stop & Shop are just a few blocks away. Brookline offers a safe, friendly, park-filled community that feels like part of the city without any of the hassles. The main floor of the condo, which is on the first floor of the building, has high ceilings, hardwood floors, many original moldings, antique cabinets, and an exquisite stained glass window in the dining room. Sunlight greets you in the morning and moves to the living room and dining room in the afternoon. The updated kitchen has granite counters and island, stainless steel appliances, and just about any pot/pan or tool you could need to whip up meals. The kitchen opens to a cozy living room with a gas fireplace. A generous bedroom with a full bed, plenty of closet space, bay windows, and a completely renovated bath are also on this level. The lower level consists of a very large bedroom and full bath. The bedroom has a queen bed, large closet, couch and desk. There are high ceilings and plenty of light. This level has an exit to the parking lot. The full size washer and dryer are immediately outside the exit on this level and are used only by this unit. This is the best location in Brookline if you do not have a car. I have not needed one since 2000. Within a few minutes you can walk to Brookline Village and the MBTA D line, or Coolidge Corner and Washington Square on the MBTA C line. Downtown Boston is just a short ride away on the T. The bus to the Longwood Medical area stops across the street. The a few blocks away you can catch the bus to Harvard Square . It is a short walk to Pierce Elementary or the High School. If you want a car occasionally, there are numerous Zipcars (www.zipcar.com) in the neighborhood. Brookline does not allow overnight parking. If you will have a car, a dedicated parking space at the rear of the building is available for $160 a month. The beds can be exchanged so that the queen size bed is in the main floor bedroom; the full bed, on the lower level. The condo is located on a main street, so you should expect to hear some traffic passing but nothing resembling "big city" noise.
