Please note that this is our primary home. We are seeking feasible summer house swaps and may rent only if we travel for an extended period in summer 2023. Welcome to the vacation destination of Bend, Oregon! We moved here for the beautiful mountains, rivers, lakes, and hiking and biking opportunities, but also because this small (but growing) town has so much to offer in amenities, including great restaurants, award-winning breweries and bars, outdoor concerts and events, and great public schools. Our craftsman-style home, custom built in 2001, offers 3 bedrooms, including a Master bedroom on the main floor with balcony, with double sinks, rain shower and soaking tub, and a walk-in closet. Upstairs is two identical bedrooms (for our two children, age 7 and 4) and a bathroom with shower and double sinks. The upstairs also includes a spacious loft room that we currently use as the children's play space (unfurnished). On the main floor, we have a parlor room with gas fireplace, a Great Room with TV, vaulted ceilings and gas fireplace, which opens with glass doors onto our deck (with mountain views!), a dining room and open-plan kitchen. If you love to cook, you'll enjoy our 6-burner Wolf stove to make gourmet meals to enjoy on the deck. Downstairs, we also have an additional rec room (with pull-out sofa bed for guests), patio and fenced-in backyard. We also have a two-car garage and mudroom with laundry downstairs (Note, if stairs are a challenge for you this house may not meet your needs). The house is in a great location, in a quiet neighborhood on Awbrey Butte which provides views of the Cascades. We are a less than 10-minute drive to downtown Bend, which is filled with great restaurants, cafes, bars, gift shops and art galleries. The town has outdoor markets and events throughout the year, including events in Drake Park. a beautiful pedestrian park in downtown Bend along the Deschutes River. What activities do you enjoy? This town has it all! In the summer, enjoy hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, rock climbing, and more. In the winter, we are just 30 minutes from skiing and sno-parks at Mt Bachelor and the surrounding parks. For those who are less outdoorsy, there's also plenty of golf courses, art events, wine bars and live music. You can also take our set of double river tubes down the Bend's famous "lazy river"! For convenience, we are also a 10 minute drive to grocery and big box stores like Safeway, Target, Home Depot, and REI. The beauty of Bend is that nothing is far away! If you come, we are happy to tell you more about the various neighborhoods and hot spots for dining and recreation around Bend. This is a friendly and welcoming community and we bet you will fall in love with it!

Comments: Because our children are in school, the best time for us to exchange is during the summer, winter and spring breaks. In the future we will be open to full academic year exchanges with places where we can enroll the kids in school.
