We are retired teachers, our son is a professor in Toronto about 3 hours away...We have chosen to retire in the beautiful Rideau Lakes area of Ontario, an hour from Canada's capital city, Ottawa... We hike, swim, kayak nearby and also bike on our country road. These activities can be facilitated for visitors to our home...The nearby Rideau Canal is an UNESCO world site with so much to see. Whether in the summer or fall, this compact but efficient house is a beautiful spot to be. With Kingston less than an hour away and the city of Smith Falls only 10 minutes away, alot of amenities are available. The historic and pretty town of Perth, 20 minutes away, is also a charming spot....Other numerous historic towns and hamlets along the Rideau Canal await exploration. We are also only an hour away from Gannanoque and the 1000 Islands and a border crossing to upstate New York. Whether rental staying in our home or an exchange, we are respectful and reasonable folks.. We also own an additional home, (a summer cottage) that allows us flexibility as to when we exchange or rent our listed property here. With another option of where we can live in the warmer months, we can be fairly flexible within our established 4 month time frame to rent this property out or exchange. Normally 2 mid size dogs live with us, but they will be with us at our cottage or with others for the summer. The house will be well cleaned before potential visitors, but I just wanted to let anyone with potential allergies know that dogs live in the house in the winter and fall months. My husband and I look forward to adding a house exchange or rental to our life experiences. And to possibly find a match in Britain to enable us to spend time with our toddler grandson and his parents who live there.

Comments: Rural setting with a few helpful neighbours not far, a variety of lakes nearby for summer recreation. Close proximity to the UNESCO site Rideau Canal, 23 lock station towns and hamlets to explore. 2 bikes, and inflatable kayaks and Toyota car onsite.
Comments: With correct insurance conditions a 2017 Toyota is available for visitor use. There is a small cabin on the property that we use as a library that has a daybed and could be used as a writing location. A good property to combine recreation with work.
Comments: The car is a 2017 Toyota sedan, with the right insurance conditions we will leave it for use.
Pick up mail at end of driveway in mailbox.
The country property requires grass cutting with a lawn tractor, we have arranged for someone to do this.
Comments: There are a few plants to water biweekly indoors, the small perennial bed in the front will not need much care. The area in the back is grass and then forest.

Comments: The house is less than 2 years old, clean and airy with lots of light and country views, hiking, biking, swimming all within minutes in a car. A major hiking trail is a few minutes walk from our front door. A good way to experience summer life here.
London, England, United Kingdom
King's College, Cambridge
Cambridge, England, United Kingdom
Bristol, England, United Kingdom
Comments: Our daughter and family have moved to London, we would like an exchange with a car if possible as we are open to other locations beyond London.
I need a home suitable for young kids
I prefer smoking not allowed in the home
Allergies are a concern
I would like a car if possible
Comments: My daughter and her toddler might come to visit us the odd time, she lives in London. I am allergic to cats but if the cat is not present, and the house well cleaned before I would likely be okay...

Comments: We are flexible about non-simultaneous exchanges in the summer months, grass cutting is negotiable, we may able to access someone else to do it, costs on this could be split..
